Noon on CBS Chance to make it an 8-8 season.

Groogrux

We're gonna end the season on a very high note.

Texans 24
Browns 3

Give up a total of 8 points in the last three games after holding the Colts to only 24 the week before.

We've gone 11 quarters without giving up a TD. The season best for any team is the Eagles with 12. I think we're likely to beat that.

I say Texans win 31-3.

8-8 here we come. Anyone know what the point spread is? I'll bet it's double digits.

Also, remember when Butch Davis interviewed for the Texans job? He thought he was too hot a commodity to coach an expansion team.

The Browns lost to Dallas in week 2 in a 19-12 game.

Therefore to extrapolate out to week 17 -- our score should be 56-3 Texans.

There is a fallacy in that reasoning -- but Houston will win BIG.

it's certainly not the only reason they won. it's the big reason, in my opinion. in football in particular, a defense can carry a team and lead a very mediocre offense to a super bowl. we've seen that happen a fair amount of times.

i'm not saying the guy is bad. i'm saying he's overrated. i'm saying people make assumptions about how good the guy is based on his name and the exciting plays he makes. and he is undoubtedly an exciting player. but im not sure that giving up 1000+ yards passing to rush 800 yards is a good tradeoff for a QB. and i'm absolutely positive that no player, QB or otherwise, turns the ball over more times.

he is mentioned among the very best in the league. he was named to the Pro Bowl ahead of Favre, who threw more than 2X the TDs he did this year. ahead of Delhomme, who had a kick ass season. i think that's silly. when i think of the best QB's in the game, Vick is not in that strata. it's far easier for me to compare him with average QB's at this point....yes, guys like Carr or Leftwich....than it is for me to compare him to mcnabb, culpepper, favre, manning, brady, etc. to me, he's not there. and i don't think he'll get there. just my opinion.

Finally, this might be a great offensive game to watch.

1 pick by Glenn and 2 by Dunta. Carr easily throws over 300 yards with DD getting at least 200 all purpose yards.

Texans 42
Browns 17

They better not pull our starters early, it's not like we have a game to play next week. Also, i can't wait to see how wrong my predictions are.:D

Ok, so I dropped (and broke) my Sportster on Friday....and there are no receivers anywhere in Manhattan (popular gift, that Sirius). Debating spending $9.95 for the NFL streaming radio on NFL.com.

Anyone ever tried it? Is it worth it? Or should just be happy to watch Jets v. Rams and catch updates.

On a cool side note, my super is a Texans fan and he has no connections whatsoever to Houston. He came up to fix my sink this morning wearing a Texans cap. After I asked him why he chose a team so far away, he said "Carr, AJ, and DD are gonna be great next year."

The O-line is really pissing me off right now, but in several cases, so is Carr. It seems like he has rolled out to the side 3-4 times so far, and he doesn't seem to be even trying to make a pass anymore. He tucks the ball, puts his head down and runs. I don't know, maybe our WR are not trying the whole time to get open, or maybe they see David get flushed out and start blocking for him rather than running routes, but it's driving me crazy.

Over the last 4 or 5 weeks, it looks like Carr's shoulder has been giving him trouble. His delivery at this point in the year looks completely different than it did at the beginning. Anyone else noticed this? I hope he has surgery in the off-season to correct this.

No kidding, exactly what I was thinking. We need an O-Line like crazy. Its totally ruining our offense.

Did you see Carr telling his QB coach that was a horrible call?

I'd have to agree

Master Baiter

I wish Carr would get seriously pissed off and start throwing ****. Make a huge scene. This offense needs a strong character to fire them up.

What in the name of all that is holy?!?!?!

Are we trying to lose this game? 4th and 1, WTF was that???

Look, a slant pass by the Browns. A slant pass. What a concept...

Didn't think so. It seems to stem from the fact that our offense has managed to stay on the field for about 4 plays since the first quarter ended.

this is disheartening

boy I hope we do some revamping to the OL and get some freakin pass rushers.

Worst game in franchise history.

Best of all, we get to suck on this one for the entire offseason. Nice going, Texans.

Bwahaha!!! Typical Chronical reporting.

This team should be friggin' ashamed of their alleged 'effort' today. What a pathetic display by the team, coaching staff, and as usual...the horrible O-line. My fat aunt could block better than these scrubs.

Not just the worst, but the most humiliating and the most gutless.

For all the talk of .500 from the players, it doesn't appear they gave the Browns much credit, if any.

The Browns were in the same exact situation we were in last week and accomplished the same exact thing we did last week.

We could get Jammal Brown OT from Oklahoma or maybe Ahmad Brooks LB from Virginia

I would most like to see us use a top pick on the O line then use the rest of the draft to find playmakers.

The oline is supposed to be weak in the draft this year. Not sure what fagency would be like, but Houston should be looking at addressing the oline by getting solid vets if they want to make a serious playoff push next year.

Brown is a RT, and with Wade we don't need another RT. We need a LT, but there's little chance we will be able to get either Alex Barron or D'Brickashaw Ferguson, the best LT's in the draft.

We'll be picking 12 or 13 and I'd love to see us land either Derrick Johnson or Antrel Rolle there.

Dan Pastorini was a great, young talented QB when he arrived with the Oilers. He had good mobility and an incredible arm, really could throw the deep ball. The problem was that the rest of the Oilers sucked so bad, that he was pouned into the ground. The OL sucked, and his knees took a beating. By the time the Oilers got a team around him, the Luv Ya Blue era, he could hardly move at all in the pocket.

I sure hope the same fate doesn't happen to Carr. By the time the Texans are any good, I hope he can still walk and throw the ball.

I was at this jewel of a game yesterday. I'm still yawning.

The problems remain:

no pass rush
no pass protection

Holcomb had all freaking day. Carr ran for his life most of the day. Hard to throw a deep ball when the RB NEVER is there to protect you (which is a Palmer problem, frankly) and the defensive linemen blow right over your OL protection.

How 'bout some flexibility, Palmer? When your team is getting run into the dirt, you might want to mix it up a bit. And by mix it up, I don't mean asking a WR to throw a cross field pass. Ridiculous.

I think most of our problem on offense is the interior linemen. Both of Guards have happy feet and are too damn slow to keep up with the opposing dfense. I'm also not a McKinney fan.

On defense, we probably should start with a replacement for Payne. I believe his contract is up and he isn't getting any younger.

Truly pathetic...

Next year better be playoffs, but we need better D and a consistent offensive who can score...
