View Full Version : A Word of Caution for Election Night

Jeff

Emotions are going to run high no matter who wins and loses. So, consider this a warning to everyone in the D&D. If you come in here taunting or cursing or insulting opponents for losing or winning, you will very likely get kicked. Period.

If you cannot be a gracious winner or loser, don't post in here tonight. This place is tough enough to deal with without that.

Thanks.

Please make this a sticky. Er... nevermind... carry on. :o

Most of the time, I don't really care. But, these are the situations that make people act dumber than usual.

actually, i have high hopes for everyone tonight. certainly there'll be a lot of gnashing of teeth and rending of garments now matter who wins or loses, but it's hard to get too upset w/ someone just because they outplayed you in the end.

I agree but it's only the first game of the season. If we can keep Ben Wallace from beating Yao and Mo down the floor for easy buckets, I think we'll have a better........

I'm sorry, what?

Ohhhhh, you mean.....

Sorry, nevermind.

Dude, you need to take your head out of your a$$ and post in the right forum... ;) j/k

I, for one, will watch the entire game before going to the bedroom to see the Daily Show coverage in its entirety.

No matter who wins hopefully both sides can get out and unit behind the winner. Not very likely though.

You know, the only thing I've feared this entire election cycle isn't the candidates choices, the war on terror, etc.. it's the post-election brewha between the two sides.

After such an ugly, knock-down, drag-out fight.. I'm not expecting much civility from either side, no matter who wins.

I don't get the feeling the D&D will be any less mind-numbingly arduous and painful to scroll through in the coming weeks.

Anyone forcing you to do so?

If not...then why complain about it :).

After the election results are in, I promise to:
: Support the President, even if I didn't vote for him.
: Criticize the President, even if I did vote for him.
: Uphold standards of civilized discourse in blogs and in media while pushing both to be better.
: Unite as a nation, putting country over party, even as we work together to make America better.

http://www.buzzmachine.com/archives/2004_11_01.html#008331

Sounds about right.

I prefered the statement a few lines down..

I hereby pledge that after the election is called, I will run naked through the streets, smeared with war paint, stinking of Jack Daniels and screaming obscenities at my neighbors.

I will do this even if my candidate wins because drunken, naked cursing is fun no matter who the president is.

What?

No smack talking?

Come on now???

;)

Whomever wins I will support, I just hope we have a clear winner.

thought it might be worth bumping this, since Jeff couldn't bring himself to make a similar admonition this year.

Silly, as usual. Nobody knew how 2004 was going to turn out. He wasn't admonishing Republicans; he was warning everyone.

Hmmm... Well, I do applaud the basic statement and plan to be classy.

As for leanings of mods, I tend to think Jeff and Clutch make an excellent team. Kind of like Brooks and Shields. :)

Is there a bizzarro Rockets game going on tonight? I thought we were playing the Celtics?

BTW- The Daily show starts at 8PM Mountain Time FYI.

I've already had someone in my office complain because their right to vote will be taken away because the country is going socialist.

The person was dead serious and very despondent.

The best place to see this in action is to work the night shift in convenience store for at least six months. Should be a requirement for life....

Who is this guy and why doesn't he post anymore? Clearly he's the wittiest poster on Clutchfans.

As for the rest of you if Dean Barkley wins the MN US Senate seat I will come here and taunt all of you for all of the non-existant smack and all of the votes that you couldn't cast against Dean Barkley in your respective states ;)

I've been waiting for this a long time. Not to rub anything in anyone's face, but to simply have, finally, a sane government. Let's hope that works out. And when I post all that gracious stuff, just realize that at home I'm pumping my fist, jumping up and down and screaming, "Yes, YES, YES!!! Victory! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!"

;)

(the above " ;) " posted out of graciousness! :) )

The upside to Obama winning is I stand to make a fortune selling the "DON'T BLAME ME, I VOTED FOR McCAIN" bumper stickers.

Then again, he's gonna make me spread my wealth. :(

Congrats on making over 250k or at least 200k. I am sure 3-5% won't kill you. Since obviously you survived the Clinton years well enough.
