Does this mean the Yankees have to win as well as the Cardinals? Or just the Cards?

Both the Yankees and the Cards

i hope it stays at 12 cause i've been looking forward to the first rockets action in a long time and i don't want those 2 games to conflict. also it means st' louis loses and i'd rather them not be rested up.

yeah, i could care less what time the game starts, just give me the series win and I'll be one happy Stros fan. they could start at 6 am for all i care.

I like the idea of the later start. It would give the Rocket a little extra rest. He might need it going on 3 days rest.

YES!

Don't care what time. It's Sunday they will be pump up with Red jersey like last Sunday when they secured the wild card.

I'm not as worried about Clemens going on three days as I was agaisnt the Rockies. He's going ot be at home. MMP will be going bananas just like today, and if the Rocket puts us in a position to win the game, I think he'll pull out all the stops...Even if he has to pitch Oswalt for an inning. I think Kent will have a big game tomorrow and Beltran will continue to smack the ball. If we can get 5 innings from Clemens with the lead, then I say turn it over to the Bullpen. I can't wait for this game tommorow!! By the way, I'd rather have the game moved to night, because he'd get a little extra rest and the last time Clemens pitched on a sunday night he had 10K's in 7 IP and most importantly 0 ER. Not likely with the Twins beating the Yankees right now. Oh well. LEts take care of business tomorrow "Stros!

I think that Roger may go 5 innings tops before we turn it over to the pen . From this point it will be up in the air ....... Oswalt was warming up in the pen today so maybe we could start Roger and let him go 5 , bring in Roy for 2-3 , and then a "Lethal Dose Of Lidge Heat" to finish them off . I'm hoping that we can pull this off and not have to go back to the ATL . My prediction .................. Stros 6-4 .

Lets send the chickens choking back to Atlanta once again !!

That sounds like a good idea, but what would that mean for game 1 of the NLCS? Would Roy be able to go after pitching a few innnings in game 4? Hopefully Roger can go 6 or 7, but I agree with you that he will probably go 5 and then Garner will go to our pen.

Game 1 of the NLCS would not be till Wednesday... and with the way Backe is throwing, I wouldn't be worried with having him pitch that game on 3.5 days rest (since today was a noon game... and Wednesday will be a night game).

But, likely, the offense should be amped up to go no matter who's on the mound, and Roy won't be pressed into action.

It is time for the 2004 Astros to boldly go where no Astros team has gone before; to the next playoff round.

My friends in St. Louis, all zealot Cardinals fans of course, are only scared of one team this year. All of say they do not want the Cards to have to face the Astros in the playoffs, and they are praying for the Braves to knock them out. Come on Stros, a STL - HOU NLCS would be epic!

It's such a good feeling to be the team that is feared right now. You can see how these teams are dear stuck in headlights for us. We just need to keep on knocking them out and moving towards our destiny this year.

Even if you don't follow the Astros, or baseball, throughout the season... there's no reason why anybody cannot get wrapped up in a playoff run. In fact, that's how many fans start to become "die-hards" in any particular sport.

I know the Rockets championships bought them a lot of new fans... why?... because they used to average only 9,000 a game before them.

You're born with Football fanaticism (if you're from Texas)... plus, its the most popular sport in the country... and I've never met anybody who "hates" football (but I have met people who can throughly dislike the other two sports).

Baseball is different... its such a long (sometimes boring) regular season... and they play everyday (making each game seem that less meaningful). BUT... I have yet to see a sport that creates as much drama/tension/excitement/joy at any given moment... plus, I do feel that it has the BEST post-season out of all the sports.

Hey Nick. I agree with that "boring" thing.

One of the things I remember about older Astros teams was the fact that it was kinda boring at times. Like we couldn't manufacture runs consistently. It was like "all or nothing" or "homerun or strke out."

Today, the brand of baseball (this team) is much more balanced and fun to watch; singles, doubles, tripples, homers, bunts, steals, strikes, pick-offs, hit-left field, hit-right field, line-drives, defense, you name it.

It's just "fun baseball." We're talented from top to bottom. We're really a dangerous team. It cool watching it playout on the field (chemistry wise).

couldn't agree more....

I say let him pitch the 5th but if he's going to do this again next inning, we need to yank clemens.

76 pitches thru 4 innings is NOOTTTTTTT a good sign for clemens or our chances of winning this game if clemens goes beyond 5

here's to hoping clemens can set them down in order 5th inning!

rocks_fan
10-10-2004, 01:45 PM
Whew.. Man Roger's throwing everything he's got left right now. Well, do you see if he go a 5th, or do you pull him and put a fresh arm in?

Normally I'd say "leave him in" but he's not looking as sharp as usual and his pitch count is starting to get up there for a 42 year old on 3 days' rest.

BTW I've been looking at other message boards and you would not BELIEVE the amount of b****ing Braves fans have been throwing up about Biggio's foul ball, even though that ruling is standard at all parks, not just MMP.
