Roger Clemens has the heart of a champion. The guy is below his standard in the first 4 innings, and then with the top of the order for the Braves in thr 5th, he just shows his mental toughness and gets them 1-2-3.

Maybe it was Roger's call... seeing at how Phil has handled these guys, I doubt he would have decided on his own.

Perhaps Roger thought he was just about done, and that last inning luckily went smoothly.

The thing about pulling Roger is that even a semi-tired Roger is more trustworthy than our middle inning relief. Roger makes the pitches when he has to. We just can't seem to put the Braves away. It's like playing with fire.

Just a double standard....if i know anyone going through this same thing im going to tell them to use Furcal as an example and see if he can get his type of punishment....just relaly sucks....beyond baseball just overall how the law handles things...but that is for another time...we need to just cheer the Astros on and not make any excuses for anything.

Actually, this reminds me more of the Boston vs. Anaheim game 3... where Anaheim tied it up after being down 6-1 early, and it looked like Boston was gonna cruise to the sweep.

The Angels even had unhittable pitchers comin in (like Smoltz) in K-Rod.

While the game was lost in the 12th inning, the Astros should have ended it in the 10th when former Houston reliever Russ Springer loaded the bases on a walk to Jeff Bagwell, a single by Ken Caminiti and a bunt hit by Stan Javier.

With Game 2 starter Jose Lima pounding a bat in the dugout, Braves closer John Rocker came on and got out of the jam.

With the infield in, Carl Everett hit a dribbler to first base and Ryan Klesko forced Bagwell at the plate for the first out.

Then came the play of the game. Eusebio hit a screamer up the middle, but shortstop Walt Weiss dived to his left, made an incredible stop and threw out Caminiti at home.

"There's no way he should have made that play," Eusebio said. "He made a heck of a play. When I saw the ball go past the pitcher, I thought it was a hit for sure."

Will the Astros ever have a smart manager? I can't tell you what contempt I hold both Phil Garner and Jimy Williams in. Hell, even Larry Dierker, who knew how to coach, didn't really do it properly.

I want someone who plays the %'s. Who knows that Craig Biggio is a better hitter than Jason Lane. Who knows that you don't pitch to JD Drew when Marcus Giles is up next with 2 out.

What's wrong with playing the odds? I'm sorry if it's not passionate. I'm sorry if it's not traditional baseball. But it's the right way to play the game. I want a smart manager. I'm sick of all the sub-100 IQ's.

This game has been too much to take, to take any more disappointment in a game that will REAALLLLLLLLLLLLY matter (game 5).

Our bats have gone ICE cold after they've tied it up...... smoltz is in...... what more can you ask for if your a defense pitching against a struggling offense.

If we lose, Garner cost us the game. He's been Jimy Williams-like with all these pitching changes. But the downside is that Jimy Williams atleast made logical sense statistically. Now I'm not saying I want Williams over Garner. Garner livened up our team and put some pep in our older guys, but his managing decisions today have been atrocious.
