Not sure if Taveres can be on the roster; was he called up after September 1st?
In other news though http://houston.astros.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/hou/news/hou_news.jsp?ymd=20040929&content_id=875443&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp

In the link you posted, the writer writes the following:
"The Giants, who beat the Cubs in the season series, would have a choice to either play up to two home games or one road game. If they choose to play at home, they would face the Astros, while the Cubs would have a day off. If the Giants won, they would play the Cubs in San Francisco the next day. If the Astros won, they would then travel to Chicago for a one-game playoff at Wrigley Field."
I thought that, in the three-way tie, the winner of game 1 would be at home for game 2. So if SF is, IMO, stupid enough to play on Monday and the Astros beat them, wouldn't the Astros come back to MMP to play the Cubs?

Miguel,
Thats pretty strong.
I would venture to guess that Gallo gets Hernandez's spot. I would be suprised to see Carlos make the post season roster at all.

I would rather Gallo makes it over Oliver. That guy has nothing. I don't think he has gotten an out over his last few outings. I doubt we would see more than Qualls, Miceli, Wheeler and Lidge in the playoffs unless there is a blowout either way.
Willy Taveres is not eligible unless the Astros appeal because of an injury. Since that hasn't happened...

What I would do:
Position players (13): Ausmus, Chavez, Bagwell, Kent, Vizcaino, Ensberg, Everett, Lamb, Bruntlett, Biggio, Berkman, Beltran, Lane
Pitchers (12): Clemens, Oswalt, Backe, Lidge, Miceli, Wheeler, Gallo, Hernandez, Qualls, Harville, Springer, Munro.

Hunsicker said given the iffy nature of any given reliever on any given day, his inclination would be to "carry more pitchers than we normally do on a playoff roster."

I'm thinking maybe Eric Bruntlett should be on that roster.

It makes no sense including Everett if he cannot contribute in the field anytime soon.
It will be more prudent to take Bruntlet if he qualifies. As it stands on Viz can play the SS position sufficiently. So what if he goes down in game 1 (God forbid)? Is there somebody I am missing that can fill in for him save for Brunt, Adam and the new dad?
