I have the Raiders D and I desperately need a win this week. Of course, I'd take 81-0 and a fantasy loss over a Texans' loss any day of the week.

Oakland was pretty good on Sunday, and will be better with Collins at QB...The Texans should have momentum from the KC win...

The Texans are feeling confident again and Oakland doesn't really have anything too special about their team. I'm a little scared of what Sapp might do, but other than that, I think this is easily either team's game to win.

I think the Raiders will shutdown our running game but the offense will find a way to pull this out at home. The Raiders have the best special team duo in the NFL (Buchcanon,Gabriel) so watch out for them. Woodson vs Johnson should be fun to watch also.

Danny Clark.

Ronald Curry.

Doug Gabriel.

Goooooood, you'll be seeing a lot of them.

Will the Raiders win? Possibly, but it won't be easy against a team that for the most part, runs the same defensive scheme as they do.
What you'll see from the Raiders is a lot of different schemes, with players changing positions, a lot of blitzing, and not just from the LBs, Woodson will probably be sent 2-3 times.

I think Charles Woodson has allowed 1 reception this season so far, but I'm sure Andre will be able to make a few nice moves and free himself up, I wouldn't look for him to have a huge day though, unless he is working zone over the top.

The Raiders running game is suffering, Wheatley and Fargas have been highly innefective until last week when Wheatley was able to get 100 yards vs a stout Tampa Bay Defense. The Texans will probably have little trouble containing the running game. I doubt they will be able to get much pressue on Collins though, the pass protection for the Raiders has been superb in recent weeks.

Domanick Davis will not be able to run the ball against the Raiders very well, but he should be able to catch passes out of the backfield. If I had to predict a big game from anyone on Houston I'd Say one of the WRs other than Johnson should be able to beat our weak safeties deep and make some long catches. I'd look for Armstrong or Bradford to try and take advantage of the coverage early and often.

Special teams plays an important factor in many games, Phillip Buchanon is a dangerous return man with blazing speed and a knack for making the big play, he has scored 7 TDs in just 22 games from the CB position. Shane Lechler is the NFL's finest punter and he will pin you deep down in your own territory. Janikowski has finally developed into an accurate kicker, although he'll never be worth a 1st round pick. Stanley is among the league's best in punts inside the 20, so field position will probably be issues for both teams early on.

You will notice the Raiders will alternate their WR packages, You'll see Jerry Rice and Jerry Porter early on, and later on Rice will be replaced by guys like Curry and Gabriel. Alvis Whitted is also an option with his olympic speed. Kerry Collins has a much stronger arm than Gannon, and he will look deep often, especially for Gabriel. He is not as conservative as Gannon however, and will force a few throws and make a couple bad decisions.

Overall... The Raiders have not won on the road since 2002, and will have some trouble against a Texans team that will exploit both our weaknesses. I see a decent day for both offenses, mainly on the passing side with both QBs possibly topping 300 yards. Texans will probably win on a late drive and FG, as has been the case in seemingly all our road losses.

Umm. must have been a short season. Hollings practiced Wednesday and is listed as probable. Davis is still listed as questionable, but is expected to play.

I just saw on "Texans Inside the Huddle" that Dom Davis is out for Sunday's game. Our running game is going to suck this week. I don't have any faith in Hollings and Wells so im looking for a huge game out of Gaffney and Dre.

Great, you deal with these pessimistic texan fans in the chat room and when Hollings goes down they tell me he won't be back this year. Guess Holllings is playing on sunday.

I don't really think Hollings is that great, you could have gotten the 33rd pick in this last draft if you wouldn't have taken him.

This has been discussed to death but.... look the second round pick was not thought to be that high when the decision was made. The Raiders were coming off a superbowl season and were expected to do just as well. Instead they tanked and suddenly that pick looks like gold. Also no one expected DD to contribute the way he has. Couple those factors together and suddenly Hollings looks like a blown pick. However if the Raiders had made the playoffs and DD just turned out to be a kick returner third down type back, we'd all be singing a different tune.

Give Hollings a little more time and take off those hindsight glasses.

In my heart I want the Texans to come away with a victory, but I just think that the Oakland Defense will be able to put enough pressure on Carr that we are not going to win. Although I do not expect a lop sided victory, I just can't see the Texans winning this weekend.

p.s. - I also picked them to lose last weekend... So I am hoping that if a ifollow my same pesimistic trend that they might pull the upset again. (Crossing-fingers) ;)

That Really has nothing to do with it, you can make excuses all you want but I just don't think he's a good running back at all and I wouldn't have wasted a 4th rounder on him much less a 2nd.

Texans organization > moetavern's opinion

Have to go with the Texans braintrust on this one. I also haven't seen Hollings enough to have such a strong stance on a subject.
Maybe we can give him a couple full games as the feature back in the regular season before we say he's a bust.

Haha, you aren't related to The Cat by any chance are you?

Casserly made a pretty stupid move with Hollings, but hey at least he did get you that top 10 pick for Drew Henson.

Also the pick was a third rounder that we traded to the Raiders for a second rounder the following year. So essentially it was a mid third round pick not this golden top of the second round choice. And that third round choice may have come from a previous trade as well someone with more time or a better memory would have to confirm this.

Ultimately to me I'm glad the Texans have the sack to take a few chances. Boselli didn't work out, Hollings remains to be seen, but the Henson and the Milford Brown decisions I think were good. Point being the team takes chances and good or bad at least they're not sitting on their hands. It makes following the team fun and interesting. Isn't that the point?

Have the Texans ever scored 30 points in a game? I know they've come close a few times

I think San Diego is a little better then people think. They are beating the Titans pretty well right now 31-17

The Titans don't have Steve McNair right now.

Sorry, I guess this was a pointless post.

I think the Chargers are playing well enough that they would have still won if McNair was in. They CAN'T stop the run at all.

Good game from the Texans, Raiders again play like absolute **** on the road. Total domination in the 2nd half.

Good luck texans, you have a bright future.

Best game Chris Palmer has called all season, maybe in his Texans career (except for running three times inside the 10 yard line).

I think because DD was out, they actually used the HB to RUN and the WR's to PASS...the screens were going to Andre more, and he does a lot more with those than our HB's do, as well as catching those slants.

I've been saying it all season...get Andre the ball and nothing but good things will happen for this offense. He's to big, strong, and fast to be stopped.

Great game by the Texans. If I was Capers I would think about letting Dunta Robinson return punts because he is a threat to score everytime he touches the ball. He reminds me alot of Phillip Buchcanon. I don't think he will be a shutdown corner but the guy can make plays.

Paraphrase warning....Capers said something of the effect that D'angelos Hall's return ability was worthg zero because he wouldn't risk a starting CB returning kicks.

I think he meant Capers was talking about Hall's perceived value over Robinson because he is an excellent punt returner.

I know he is the coach so he can do what he wants but when you have a playmaker like Dunta on the team you need to put that guy on the field as much as you can. I would leave JJ on kickoffs and put Dunta on the punt returns.

I was amazed at how many false starts the Raiders had. Didnt they have like 8 or 9 false starts? I'm not complaining though, my team won.

Well, Woodson may have shut Moss down, but he didn't do much to Andre. I especially enjoyed that first quick side pass where Johnson juked Woodson so bad he almost didn't even get a finger on him as he blew right by.

Andre is the man.

Andre is the man. I think by year 4 he will be in the same class as Moss, T.O. and Harrison.
