Yao has played two truly great games (NZ and S&M) and carried his team to two wins.
Did ok in one game (Argentina), played a subpar game against Spain, and a horrible game against Italy.

Not bad for CNT to get into top 8. Considering the weak support he has, Yao's performances on the two wins are FANTASTIC! Now, he just need to do that on a nightly basis in the coming season and bring some MVPs and rings! :)

yao ming is a beast. i read that towards the end he was cupping his hand to his year to taunt the serbian fans and then before and after free throws he was pounding his chest KG style.
haha... cool.

I'd actually say Ginobilli has had the better Olympic run so far. Yao's numbers are largely due to the monster game against New Zealand, and he hasn't been consistent (9 pts against Italy?). Manu's numbers have been steady, and he's not the sole offensive option. Ginobili's winning too (undefeated). It could even be argued that Gasol is having as good a run, having killed Yao in the first game and with Spain undefeated.
Yao's doing well, but he's not truly dominating these games. Of course, Duncan would love to have any 20-point games himself.

Ginobili isn't undefeated. Spain beat them.

Considering the weak support he gets and the collapsing D has has been facing, let alone the huge pressure on his shoulder, Yao is doing extremely well at the Olympics.
Give Yao another player the caliber of Gasol or Ginobili, China is talking about a top 3 finish at the Olympics.

Whoa! You're too ahead of youself right there...
There should be a few more of them... and also they have to be unselfish like Yao... not to mention it takes time to create team chemistry, which the current CNT really lacks...

Even with a Wang Zhizhi, China will do much better. WZZ used to do quite well in international games.

yeah, at least he can knock down some open 3s and that'll help Yao's game BIG time.

After watching this game, I feel that Yao needs one good shooter, one good slasher to be extremely effective. Of course a PF who can score and rebound a little would help too. China won yesterday because finally they had one guy who could sank 3 pointers (LiNan) and one guy who could slash to the hoop and draw fouls (DuFeng). Also the PF (MoKe) also got into some positions where he could get pass from Yao and score.
Now Rockets surely have a better shooter and slasher in McGrady/JJ than China could ever hope for; a better scoring PF in J.Howard. I think Rockets can do really well next year!:D

don't mean to be harsh on Yao's teammates, but damn if Yao wasn't scoring at 20 points a game, the CNT would be lucky to crack 30 points a game
