Hey, at least we are hitting now even if our bullpen sucks a rat turd. Weathers should be outright released. He couldn't make it in double A ball with his lack of consistency. I can't believe we acquired this loser in a trade. Beltran certainly hasn't been playing like one of the best and his outfield play has been uninspired. Bags may be coming out of oblivion offensively. Ensberg has shown signs of life. I think our offense is finally waking up. Unfortunately, our bullpen is full of a bunch of losers with few exceptions.
I'm going with: WW .

Pathetic.
Weathers sucks, he should be recalled or released. What a waste of a roster spot.

You know...when a player is interviewed after the game and says the crap Weathers says...he should be released or sent down. He basically admitted he has stunk this whole season and that he sucks. We want this guy coming out of the bullpen trying to pitch middle relief? No way. This is the guy you bring in when the game is out of reach. It seems we are going to keep going with him even though he sucks. I don't understand it. Is there noone else?

You'd think by now they would bring up someone from the minors. i mean, why not give the other guys a try, this season is over for us anyways.
The Cardinals are just playing too damn good, and we are sucking.
What about....what's his name hernandez or fernandez (not the knuckle baller guy). His fast ball is said to still be pretty slow, but I would wrather have him up here doing some bullpen work wrather than Weathers. Any one but Weathers.

I think the Stros will split this series. Webb dominates them tonight. Oswalt dominates the D'Backs tomorrow night

Being dominated by a 3-10 pitcher sounds just about right to me.

:( I admit it. I still do, but my hopes for the post season have been demolished.
We better win tonight. If not......damn damn danm damn damn.
Watching Astros games, when they're out of contention, is a guilty pleasure.
Nobody's felt this way since 2000... weird.

looking at this logically, the dbacks are even worse than us and actually have the worst record in baseball. and to top it off, they have lost something like 9 straight. so basing this on logic, we should win both. but basing it on us being the astros, we'll most likely lose both, the only question is how. the bats go quiet? biggio or kent make a big error? weathers enters the game at some point? i'm going with a lackluster night at the plate (2 runs), the dbacks scoring 2 on pettitte in the 6th and then an 8th inning run scratched out by the dbacks against somebody not named lidge. of course we will go out meekly in the 9th 1-2-3.

did i really just see that biggio's career average with the bases loaded is .231!!! most people with the bases loaded up their average into the mid 300's or so, biggio decreases it by over 50 points. excellent.

Biggio has had a very good season.
We had a chance to tear this game open. but failed with the Beltran fly out with the bases loaded.
3-0 good guys.
I don't think 3 runs is enough for us to win tonight, with our bullpen about to come up and pitch. I have no faith in our relievers.
They are 1 and 7 since the trade of Dotel. Lidge has 6 saves and 6opp.

3-2....time to lose this one. Let's go Astros! You can spoil another lead! WHOOP!
Time to lose to a team that has lost 9 games in a row, and is the WORST in the league! WE CAN DO IT!

Apparently Gaetti and Ausmus have been doing some great work in BP... how come we never heard this sort of thing when Spilman was around?
As bad as this team has been the last week, their offense has been suprisngly consistent: 4, 5, 6, 5 and 5 runs in the last 5 games is not bad (thanks to bullpen, only 2-3 in those games).
Too bad they couldn't get Gary up here about a month earlier... guys like Ausmus, Everett and Ensberg could have REALLY beneffited... and when your bottom guys in the lineup stop hitting, everybody just seems to feed of that.

THE TURNAROUND!!!!!
not :(
Uprising
07-22-2004, 12:00 AM
It may be a trunaround. But one that showed up too late. Unless we win like 20 in a row and the Cards play .500 ball or so, we don't have a chance.
We must suddenly trun RED HOT.

True... division is done. But, if we win even 5 in a row, that will be a MONUMENTAL achievement...

I`m not quite ready to write them off just yet. If they go on a tear they can still contend for the wildcard spot. It will take a great finish, but I`m going to wait another week before I stick a fork in `em
The bad thing is that even if we went on a tear, there are a bunch of teams:
San Diego
San Francisco
Chi Cubs
Cincinnati
Atlanta
Milwaukee
NY Mets
Florida
that would have to go into a mini-slump for us to catch and pass them. A few teams, maybe. All 8 teams, unlikely.

you see, we don't suck as bad as we thought...we beat a last place team, meaning, if we really sucked, we should have lost...

The cubs have been playing terrible ball too as of lately, so if we could turn it aroud and they continue to suck....well...just maybe.

Also, the key is how many games do we have left with each of the teams above us.
I know we're done for the year with Florida and San Diego, thus it becomes that much tougher to catch those teams in the standings. (we have to win a lot, and hope for them to lose).
The other teams, we can catch easily if we win the series against them (especially teams in our division like Milwaukee and Cincy, which we have a few games left with)... but winning a series hasn't been all that easy lately.
Note: We've also yet to play Philly and Montreal... at all.

Probably not till early August. He just started throwing a ball last week... it will take him this week and part of next to build back some arm strength, and start throwing some bullpen sessions... then he'll go on a rehab assignment or two... and THEN he'll be able to start again.

Astros up 4-0. Two run shot by Everett followed by a foul line hugging bomb by Beltran. Oswalt looks sharp.
Let's turn this thing around.

I think he'll be fine. In addition to his magical power to curing everybody's swings, Gary Gaetti can also fix knees as well. :D
Honestly, though... it just looked as if Everett was spiked and "knock-kneed" at the same time. It will probably swell up a little, but they should be able to control it enough to where it doesn't keep him out.
