Bags, Biggio, Beltran, Berkman, Roy, Wade, Pettite, Roger, or other?
Personally i feel the worst for Pettite. He signed a 3 year contract with the Astros and now it looks like were about to go through a rebuilding stage.
I feel sorry for Roger too, but at least he can quit when the year's over and skip out on road trips.

I don't feel sorry for them. Losing is part of sports. Most of them have had great success at some point. And besides, they are multi- millionaires.
I HARDLY feel "sorry" for any of them, but I do feel for Biggio in a way. Dude has made all these position switches over the years to accomodate the team. While moving from catcher to 2nd probably didn't hurt his feelings much, the move to centerfielder to accomodate Kent just HAD TO SUCK! Now Beltran comes along and he has to move again (though I bet he's damn glad to get away from that stupid hill).
Surprisingly, Bigg has had a 'comeback player of the year' type season and appears to be doing EVERYTHING he can do to get the Astros over the top in this 'make-it-or-break-it' year, but alas, it does not appear that will be enough. Yeah, I guess I kinda feel for the dude; still......

1) Biggio for reasons mentioned, does A LOT for our community, is not a sure hall of famer
2) Bags the shoulder is preventing him from being an all time great
3) Roy Injuries could ruin what still may be a great career
4) Pettitte Had a great thing in N.Y. but already has rings
5) Roger has everything (Cy Young, money, fame, rings
Beltran, Berkman and Miller are still young and have ample time to win titles and make a lot of money
But i agree it's hard to really feel sorry for these guys...

They get paid a king's ransom to play a child's game. Why do any of them deserve sympathy?

honestly...bagwell.
the guy is about 40 HR's away from a feat that only 12 people before him ever accomplished....the 500 HR Club.
sadly, a shoulder injury will likely keep him from it. this really resonated with me when i was at the HR Derby and they did the ceremony with all the guys from the 500 HR Club. most of bags' homers come in the spacious Astrodome....he would have been a legit 500, with a career batting average near .300, as well.
that sucks.

Roger. He was supposed to help us get to the WS. He had a few low run no decisions and now we are the 5th worst team in the NL. Welcome home.
Beltran.....
.....for having to join this lifeless clubhouse.

Not as lifeless as his last one.
I'd say Biggio this year. Bagwell maybe because it's not like he just started sucking for no reason.

well, actually it would be Biggio and Kent...both their contracts are up and doubt they'll get optioned...
Also, for the fans, because we've had to sit through this mediocre season...

I think Kent's definitely gone for no other reason than he wants to be. He's going to retire.
However, I'll be very surprised if Biggio isn't an Astro next year. Despite the fact that he's a bargain for his production, I think he's got one more year of starting in him, then could turn into a Billy Spiers type guy for a few more after that. He'll play into his 40s.

Clemens, hands down. The guy left the yankees and "came out of retirement" to play for this team, and he has pitched his balls off almost every single game, and has received virtually no run support, and is surrounded buy a bunch of lifeless has-beens.
No Worries

Roger. HIs pitching well enough to be a 20 game winner, but he is getting Ryan-esque run support.

What are you talking about? Their record? Houston's clubhouse is lifeless even when they're winning, which, to say the least, is sad.

You've been in the clubhouse? Awesome.

i don't feel sorry for a single one of them. they have collectively ruined the season for me. and roger, he's a jerk. he should have signed with the stro's long ago instead of taking the easy road with the yanks. only thing good about him is that he helped the longhorns win a college world series.

You're right, how could I've made such a wild conjecture? I'm sure there's no correlation between a lifeless clubhouse and a lifeless dugout.

I guess you shouldn't believe the local press either. David Delotti mentioned that on a number of occasions (right before Jimy's firing). Also, Kenny Hand implied that on I believe it is called Extra Point on Saturdays.(on ABC hosted by Tim Melton I think)

Roger, it wasn't worth it for him to come out of retirement. He has been great this season, and he missed out of a bunch more wins due to our horrible offense. He pitched damn good in a bunch of the nondecisions.

1. The Fans
2. Kent - He signed here because he thought this team had something special about it, and all we've done since getting him is SUCK! The Astros choked in the final week last year, losing by 1 game - probably would have made the playoffs if he didn't miss so many games last year.
3. Bagwell - Like previously mentioned, he would have much better numbers if he wasn't playing the Astrodome so long. It really is a shame he won't get to 500 (unless he can keep withstanding the pain) because he's a great player who deserves to be mentioned with the other players there.
4. Biggio - What Win said.
5. Roger - What rocketfan said

I've never seen Kent look like he even gives a flying **** about this team. He's probably the last guy I'd feel sorry for on this team.
Kent looks like he is just out there to collect a paycheck. No heart or hustle anymore.
I feel sorry for bagwell and biggio because they have given their all to the team. They are not the greatest players but they are gamers and play the game right.

beltran is the guy who doesn't seem to give it his all IMO. He doesn't hustle to the ball and other small things are starting to annoy me.

i feel sorry for Biggio, Clemens and Lidge. They are the only 3 astros who have showed up to do their job when called upon.

Everett, Ensberg. Because they're not the ones getting paid the same as Bags and Biggio but they are sharing the same amout of blame. I never really liked Clements so i don't feel sorry for him. Remember, he played for the Yankees.

If I was Beltran I would be doing the exact samething. He knows he is going to be paid next year. He's a rent-a-player on a sorry team. If I was him I'd tell Hunsicker to trade me or kiss my ass goodbye in September.

I feel sorry for Petite and Clemens (and Kent to a lesser degree), because they know what it is like to be on a good team. Bags, Biggio, Ensberg, etc. don't know what it is like to play in the World Series. They are probably thrilled just to get back to making the playoffs. It would make their careers to get out of the Division Series. The former Yanks know what it is to consider every season that you don't win the WS a failure, imagine how they feel to be on a team that's 1 game out of last place. Then again, it was their stupid idea to leave the Yankess/Giants in the first place.
