I find it interesting that no Astro was even invited to participate in the Derby. I understand they are trying to get all of the 500 hr guys in, but isn't it normally reserved for all stars (Rafael Palmeiro?)?
Lance Berkman has already said that he would have participated if asked. Last I checked, the game is in Houston. Shouldn't at least one Houston player be involved?

I agree, they need an Astro in the derby. Maybe they should ask Beltran since they arent going to let him play in the All Star game.

In 97, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02 a member of the home team was in the derby. last year was the first time in a while no one was represented from the Cubs or Whitesox.

I still don't understand why Sosa is starting over Berkman and J.D. Drew. I know the fans voted him in but thats a joke.

According to this, the roof will be open for the HR derby, but only after the 1st round:

Giambi pulls out due to lingering sickness, Tejada takes his place.

All-Star Games are a joke. It's about who "the fans want to see."
Personally, I want to see the best freaking players for the year, not Sammy the [insert negatively connotated word of choice] Clown.

I never thought Berkman would hit right handed.
He was trying to take advantage of the crawford boxes!!

Bonds certainly hit some MONSTER shots!!! wow:eek:

Just wait until Sosa takes advantage of the Crawford boxes, and all of downtown Houston. After what Sosa did in Milwaukee last year, he's probably gonna shatter those window panels.

I wish Berman would stop with the "back back back back" garbage during every swing.
He does this every year.

Bastards....I'm at work. Why can't they show this on network TV?
HR Derby doesn't have the same excitement level when watching it on CBS Sportsline.com

That's good. But since it's Enron -- I mean Minute Maid -- How about Jose Lima -- he seems to throw the best batting practice HR ball in the history of that park. (although the 'Stros couldn't get much off him Sunday -- damn those 'Stros are pissing me off with their bats)
Even George H. Bush mentioned bagwell's lack of production and the teams overall lack off hitting.

I don't like many Astros but ever so often one comes along who I like, and Lance now fills that role.

Yes I did. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you. We've got a problem here. Marsha's dad is in bad shape, and in the hospital on a ventilator. My mind's been elsewhere. As soon as I get off work in the morning, I'm driving up to Temple Texas to help her out.
THey are showing it on ESPN2 again.
thank goodness. I was at work.
i went to radioshack to buy a portable tv to catch the game tommorow.

I wasn't able to see it, but I gotta say great job, Lance. It must have been great how he put on a show for the hometown fans and made it to the final. Lance is the man!
