im sorry i just dont see how it cant be Lebron. everyone was suprised at how Amare played last season out of highschool. and now Lebron has played better then even him in his first year.
comon now no debate just give it to him. then you take Carmelo and he will have a great great career. no disrespect to him in the least.

Melo is only one year younger than Lebron. And he already carrys his team into the playoffs in the toughest division in the league. Remember now, Nuggets is the most improved team this season.

you mean older.
and their improvement isn't all due to carmelo. the nuggets picked a whole bunch of new players last summer. Miller, Lenard, Boykins, Barry, in effect Camby (only played a few games the year before). So pretty much their whole rotation is new.

well there actually not even a year apart. but playing one year of college is a slight advantage, plus with going all the way through the tournament.
i guess as much as carmelo has impressed me this year. lebron has done so a little more.

Hell, I think Boki still qualifies as a rookie, he didn't play in enough games last year. :D

Lebron will win, but this is due to Melo's hissy fit...
Otherwise, I would say Melo...

If Carmelo doesn't win it straight up or at least get co-ROY, then it will be robbery Yao Ming style.

LeBron is the better player, he should win it. No shame in that. LeBron has had all teh hype and not only lived up to it, but exceeded it.
I love Melo, but the only way he could get co-rookie is if he just flat out dominates and carries us into the playoffs, while James falls apart at the end.

That's why i voted for lebron. Almost any other year, Melo wins this in a walk.

just wondering... do you still think Skita will develop? haven't heard about him at all.

Holding out hope for Skita, but preparing for the worst. The only reason I haven't given up on him personally is he has such a great attitude. Dude is putting in more time than anyone else on the team to improve, and it's just not happening as smoothly as we all hoped. Honestly, I think he'll get better, the question is how much. At worst, next year we should have a backup 3/4 that can provide 15 minutes a night of not screwing up. Hope we get more, but not expecting it.

Why can't they just give it to both of them? Both of their situations are pretty impressive. If you put the Cavs in the West and Nuggets in the East, it'd be different.

Tozai, I'd love to see it, but LeBron has been the better player. And I don't buy the "Denver has more talent" crap. Cleveland has an all-star center. Boozer is better than Nene (yes, I said that, yes I stand by it, watch him and look at the stats). Eric Williams isn't a slouch either. Denver might have more talent overall, but it's pretty damn close.
I just don't think you can go against LeBron when you consider all the hype he's faced and the fact that he has outdone expectations. That's pretty damn hardcore. I mean, Melo has clearly outdone what was expected of him, but he didn't have the media spotlight Bron did.
Then again, knowing how they screwed up last year, it wouldn't surprise me to see Kurt Hinrich get the damn award.

That's right. Sorry, my hatred for Kansas blocks out certain names.
No really, Raef LaFrentz at #3 overall is a good pick.

Except for the part about actually using him next year, he sounds a lot like a guy named Bostjan Nachbar.:)
But seriously, wasnt Tskitishvilli (sp?) a bench player and Nachbar a starter when they played for Benetton Treviso? Is it just that Nickoloz was younger and had more potential? Why'd his stock shoot up so much right before that draft?

2 words: Dirk Nowitzki.
Everyone saw a lot of Nowitzki in Skita.

lebron is going to win it, but what happened to that argument last year that amare should have gotten in because he led his team to the playoffs? some say that carmelo and lebron are equal, although i disagree, but lebron is still going to win, regardless if he gets to the playoffs.
the fact that the playoffs criteria is not an issue this year, i think, proves that yao got shafted last year for reasons outside of basketball ability, and more so those voters could feel more right about their predictions in the beginning of the year.

I always believed that Lebron will win. But tonight's Denver's game against Portaland just proved that Melo deserved as much as Lebron did. He stepped up when they really needed him at the crunch time. He was unstopable, it reminded me of the game he played against UT.

Melo was...wow. My favorite part was right before overtime, Buzz was telling the team, "Guys, if you don't start playing D, you're not going to win." Melo interrupted and said, "Coach, we won't lose. I won't let that happen."
The balls on this kid are incredible. I konw some of you hate him for the refusing to enter teh game thing (lord knows I was pissed for a while), but he's growing up FAST.
Not a day goes by where I don't thank Detroit.
both denver and cleveland were in a push for the playoffs going into the final 15 games. this is where both rookies were to step up and grab this thing by the horns - prove their leadership abilities.
well...Lebron's squad has gone 2-11 with two games to go. they lost to detroit, phoenix, philly, dallas, milwaukee, memphis, and miami all by a minimum of 15 points and couldn't close of easy wins vs golden state (lost by 3) and toronto (lost by 1). Lebron has proved that his team does not deserve the playoffs. In one of those two wins that they had...lebron scored 41 - amazing! But in the other he scored a measely 10 (although his 11 assists were huge).
and Melo? Well, his squad has gone 7-6 with key victories over Utah, Minnesota, Houston, Portland, and avenging a loss to the Sonics. They have kept themselves in the drivers seat of the final playoff spot and Melo has taken control more than ever scoring 29.4 ppg over the last 5 (four of them being wins).
ROY??? your call.

ill have to go with carmelo. Carmeolo has taken his team to the playoffs while lebron couldnt while still in the eastern confernce. That why yao got shafted last year.

neither deserve to win.
LJ lead his team to 34-47 record and missed the playoff.
Melo built his stat by taking tons of the shots.

It should be Melo cause his team is in the playoffs. He and James have similar stats, but one is still playing while the other is going home. I hope they dont give it to James or even have some Co-ROY crap cause that would just prove that Yao got SHAFTED last year.

I say Melo. He got his team into the playoffs with a winning record in a tougher Western Conference with a team that the previous year was tied at the bottom for the worst record in the NBA with Cleveland. James couldn't even get his team in the playoffs in a weaker conference where even a below .500 record will get ya a #6 seed and being 1 game over .500 will get ya a freaking #4 seed which is exactly where the Nuggets would be in the Eastern Conference. Hell if they had the luxury of facing teams like the Tragic 4 times instead of 2 they might even be fighting with the Nets or Pistons for a #2 or #3 seed. You can debate whether Denver had a better overall supporting cast than the Cavs, but results are what matters in my eyes. Both practically have identical stats but the results for their respected teams are exact opposites so I give the nod ten fold to Melo. As for people saying no one expected James to be so good so fast whereas with Melo it was expected, this isn't a surprise award. It's a results award and Melo delivered in a tougher conference.

Well hell, by your qualifications we'd better not give any awards. I mean, Garnett takes a lot of shots. Can't have that. And Duncan? Damn. Better take his award away too.
I still don't see how they take it away from James -- who did live up to his incredulous hype.
But CoRoy's does seem right. Melo's done an amazing job -- and the team's records should count for something.
Congrats Nugs.

they take many shots because they make a lot of them. Melo takes ton of them and miss ton of them. He is averaging 18 shots per game! And his pg% is only at 42.7%.
Melo's D is so-so.
He is nowhere close to KG or Duncan.

Another Co-Roy in my opinion. Although I hate that. One person should just win it and the other suffer with the pain of losing.

If we applied any of the principals last year that lead to Amare over Yao it has to be Melo for ROY.
I don't think it will happen--because logic and reason do not often dictate these awards and rather hype does, plus some of the idiots already mailed in their votes, but less than a share to him would be a shame.

I think Melo should win based on the fact that he proved himself, carried his team to the playoffs with a huge must win perfomance against the Blazers and the fact that he didn't get lost in the Lebron hype.
