Rockets on top of WC! Lakers are giving up over 100 points in the last 4 games. There is no D in LA.

Guess these Faker fossils cannot last 82 games after all..
Errrr..
Looks like Memphis is becoming the Rockets of last year. Beat the good teams and lose to the bad ones...errr....

Jerry West was fully enjoying this. They showed his smiling face more than a couple of times on the LP. Take that Jerry Buss!

Must be :) We should feel flattered that we lost to Memphis  Otherwise we'd be 5-0 right now if we didn't have to play them this early.

Hey Smeg, I created (unintentionally) virtual you on ESPN Basketball.
No, you can't dunk, but you've got a great finger roll. The hair is a perfect match and I even included the assumed short, short rugby shorts. :D

Good news? Bad news? Who knows.
Memphis might be a tough competitor of Rox for playoffs.
Any thoughts?

I am getting the funny feeling that grizzlies' gonna become a pain in the butt. Last year we thought we had it in the bag but Pau et al really had a go at us.
This year we have already lost to them once. If Rockets don't beat the living crap out of them on their home court, I will be really pissed

The four teams with the best records all have new coaches this season. Maybe there is something to be said about having a fresh prespective.

There are also 9 other new coaches who aren't in that spectrum, and a few who will never have at it this year.

It was a close game when we lost to them. Nobody clicked that night. My prediction: we will rape them in their home court

I don't like his opinion AT ALL! I'm all for the Rockets sweeping the rest of our meetings so as not to hear from that moonshine runnin' smack talkin' troll.
The next Rox game will be easy, against heat at home, jvg's brother
Heat had a bad start this season

i was talking about this to my friends earlier saying that memphis is most effective using their athletic players for the full court press against teams with short benches. im not surprised that it worked perfectly against the lakers.

It's five games into the season. The Rockets have only played one decent team, the Nets, and they were without Kenyon Martin. They haven't proven anything. The early success is nice but it's nothing to get excited about. Remember last year when it appeared the Rockets were all but locks for the playoffs after beating the Lakers in overtime? And where were they in May? Exactly. Now if they're 14-1 going into December, there will be something to talk about. Right now just take it easy.

Yes, I do have thoughts. I'm as glad that the Rox snatched up Van Gundy as I am about the cowboys grabbing coach Parcells.
(no disrespect though...I love rudy and everything he means to this org.)

I love Rudy, too, but I was pretty optimistic about the hiring of Van Gundy. Ever since he took over for Riley in New York, I've been impressed with him.
I don't think he's a "better" coach than Rudy. They're just really differen't, that's all. This is the type of team that's more suitable for Van Gundy.
As sad as I am to see Rudy go, it's not like he's going away. He's still part of the organization as an advisor. And it's also not like he went away without accomplishing anything. He was the only coach to take away two rings from Phil Jackson during the Jordan era. Two rings! Most coaches long for just one, or even just a shot at one.
Rudy created a lifelong legacy here--as a player, scout, then coach. Not many people had what he had--and not many would ever complain with what he had. To stay with an organization like that. Of course, i would love to see Rudy come back to coaching, but not at another team. It sounds selfish, but if he can't be a coach for the Rockets, then I don't want him to be a coach at all. That man has been with the Rockets since the beginning--through the championship run, through the Punch, through the two rings, ect. Most people would be satsified with half those accomplishments. To quote the Oracle, "Every beginning must have an end."

It's better to beat the scrub teams than losing to them like we did last year.

Hey, I never talk smack:D
Only 2 teams in WC below .500 and they are both 1 game under....the WC is going to be tough as hell. IMO you guys can be anywhere from 3rd in the West to 9th. I think a lot of teams will be in the 35-45 range in wins.
Every road win should be cherished and you must protect your homefloor with abandon.
Looking forward to probably the best NBA season in 10 years!!!!!

understand that you're at a Rockets message board. understand that this is a franchise that hasn't had much to be excited about in a long time. understand that the rockets appear to be playing with a determination that we haven't seen from them since the days of the playoffs. are they a lock for anything?? absolutely not...but there's reason for optimism. heck, that's half the fun of sports, to begin with. hope springs eternal.

For all those that say it's still early in the season, well you're right. But you know what? I'm tired of worrying if the Rox are gonna pull another late season collapse. I'm gonna be happy when I can. Pure and simple. And btw, we never were first last season, so that's already a change.

Talk about a Cinderella season. JVG takes over and the Rox win rings exactly 10 years after Rudy and Dream.
Probably not, but it is fun to daydream!

last weekend i pulled out the old vhs that we taped during the championship years... and it totally got me all hyped up! even if we don't end up being #1, 2, or 3, there's still a chance. remember how we were #8 and won? that was great!
but it's hard, there are so many good and improved teams this year. it's okay though.. expect us in the finals in a few years :)
