See if Mulder will take 6 for 4
Offer Cust 9 for 6
Offer Ellis 2.6 for 4
See if Kelton will be reasonable and take 1.99 for 5
See if Buddie will take 4.2 for 2
Nevin is dreaming if he thinks I will agree to that, but I will get back with him later. As for Spiezio, buh-bye.

Okay, go ahead and sign Cust and Kelton, as I don't want to screw with them, especially Jackie.
See if you can get Ellis to accept 2.1 for 5 and Buddie to accept 3.7 for 3.
I will have to think about what to come back with to offer Mulder.

We stopped doing negative contracting a way back when Zac was commish. You can not longer offer them a good contract to be safe and then if they agree see if they'll take a lesser contract. Once they agree you sign them (well I guess you could let them walk, but then why offer it in the first place).
If Chuck has decided to open up for negoting contracts this way again, then nevermind me opening my big mouth :D

I know where I was getting confused earlier...
If the player tells you what they want, then you can come back with a lower offer and see if they will take that. So, I was wrong about that....carry on.:)

Alright, it seems like I remember that Mulder is a bear to sign/re-sign in the previous sims.
I will revise the offer to 7.75 for 5. That is more than double his current salary. If he wants more money, than I don't know what I will do. Have to hope and pray that he likes this offer.

Well, he is not getting it from me.
Buck,
I don't think you were around or if you were, you were just starting, but in the 2nd sim, Mulder was a FA and refused to talk to everyone except like one team, I think.
The guy has always been an asshole when it comes to contracts. I was hoping with this latest version of the sim, he would be different, but alas, he has not changed.:(

Yep that is true. He would only talk to STL and DHR. He did not like their offer so he did not sign with anyone. He was the 3rd ranked FA pitcher at the time also. I had to just sign him to a contract with STL . But he has always been a FA turd.

On the team salary page automatic means they are still under a "minor league contract". The only players that can be signed to new deals are the players who's contracts are up (they will say "NONE" under years remaining).
BTW - I think Chuck wants new threads for the restart, so you might want to start a new 2006 Re-Signing Thread.
