Let's face it Astros fan, Drayton will never change his ways. We just have to live with the fact that we are and will always be on a "budget" with regards to payroll. Because of that, Hunsicker WILL NEVER have the "arsenal" to completely build this team like he'd like to. So, my question is, would you like Hunsicker to take another GM position with a team like the Mets or Dodgers? A team that can afford to spend a little more than our beloved 'Stros (provided that Drayton let's him out of his contract)?! I, for one, would like to see it happen. I'd like to see what Gerry could do without the "wraps". I believe he'd be very successful at it without throwing good money after bad. He'd definitely avoid mistakes like the GMs of the Rangers or Orioles which threw $$$ at whoever and whomever. What do you think? Free Gerry?!

as an astros fan, i want gerry here. i'm not going to give up rooting for this team or being a fan...or wanting them to win a championship. so why in hell would i want a solid GM to go elsewhere?? it would not make me happy to see gerry win elsewhere...once he goes elsewhere, he's the enemy. welcome to "being a fan 101."

Absolutely not...

Given the constraints, he's the best in the business...With the hand cuffs off, we'd be champions by now...

Hunsicker is the best so please don't let him go...

I think Hunsicker is one of the best GM's out there but he's handcuffed by Mclane's penny pinching habits. What the Astros need are some athletic type players. For anyone who knows anything about baseball knows that Berkman and Biggio do not need to be in the outfield. They have no speed or arm strength. Berkman needs to be at first base and Biggio needs to be reduced to a utility player off the bench. As for Bagwell, I'm sorry to say this but, he's on the decline and needs to be traded for a true ace on the pitching staff. This is just my little solution to what the Astros problems are.

berkman is fine in leftfield...hell, he played center last year! now THAT'S playing out of position!

biggio is certainly not my first choice at center...but i didn't see a glut of centerfielders on the market...

Max,

I would put Berkman or Lane in Center and Biggio on the bench.

he may not be the bagwell of old but he just hit 278, had a 897 OPS, had 39 homers (8th in nl), drove in 100 again, had 109 runs (also 8th) and had the 2nd most SB of any first basemen in the game (only derrek lee had more). the wheels certainly haven't come off.

and if he is on the decline, why would anyone give us a true ace on the pitching staff for him?

Ok, before you start throwing this out there you need to understand something. Jeff Bagwell has a no trade clause that he's not gonna waive. He's not going to be traded ever. The same applies for Craig Biggio

Also, look at the stats, Jeff Bagwell in decline? i don't think so

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Gerry BUT if another team like the Mets came calling, I'd like to see what he could do w/ resources like that. As a fan, I wouldn't want him to go either because he's one of the best but it'd be very intriguing. If another team wanted him, I don't think the Astros should stand in his way. He's done pretty much all that he can here w/ what he's allowed to. I wouldn't be mad at him for wanting to work somewhere else w/ a less constraints.....;)

HELL NO. Hunsicker is one of the top GM's in the league today. Look at the team he put together while dealing with that cheapskate walmart boy. If anything Drayton needs to sell the team and immediatly leave town.
