.....getting rid of Richard Hidalgo ($12 mil) and Billy Wagner ($9 mil) would be a good start (Ausmus won't be re-signed at $3 mil). Colon is probably in the $11-13 mil range. If the 'Stros were able to trade those two for stud prospects and sign Colon, would you do it?!
This would be our starting five:
1a. Colon
1b. Oswalt
3. Miller
4. Redding
5. Robertson
Bullpen:
1. Dotel
2. Lidge
3. Villone
4. Stone
5. Hernandez/Rosario - will they be healthy?
Starters:
C - Buck
1B - Bags
2B - Kent
SS - Everett
3B - Ensberg
LF - Berkman
CF - Biggio
RF - Lane
Would we be okay w/ this?!

I'd do it, but that 5th spot would be competitive.

Forget Colon, lets go after Andy Pettite. He's in the last year of his contract and it would be nice for him to come back home.

Pettite is nice BUT Colon is a monster, a workhorse, and only 30 y.o. Plus, he throws crazy heat, racks up innings, and has a "fiery" attitude that this team needs. He "owns" the inside part of the plate w/ the best in the league. IMO, he's exactly what we need talent-wise and attitude-wise. But to each his own.....

I seriously doubt that Colon would go to a National League team. He's been in the American League his entire career. I just threw Pettite's name out there because he would probably switch leagues because of his hometown and take a discount, but I agree with you about Colon.

Plus, factor in that Drayton is the owner and Colon would command in the range of $11-13 mil/yr.....NOT gonna happen. But I can dream, can't I?:D

randerson- Colon spent some time playing for Montreal.
What would it take? Money.
Why is this a silly thread? Because of money.
Re-sign Moehler. Resign McLane.

I wish it was a way we could keep Hidalgo, chop Biggio and just put Lane in centerfield.

That's actually pretty likely.
If we were to get Colon and I hope we don't because he's a little overrated, he'd be our #2 behind RoyO.

I'd like to see Halladay. I dunno what his contract is like, or if it's even possible to get him, but he's on a Toronto staff that not going anywhere anytime soon, and it'd be nice to see him in the starting ranks with guys like Miller, and Oswalt. That'd be a dominant starting 3 that could combat anybody with atleast 2 other lefties we could toss in that could consistently make up a competitive game.

Maybe two years ago when he was still a developing pitcher BUT not anymore. Not after this year. Toronto will never allow it. Colon, on the other hand, IS a free-agent. We wouldn't have to give anything up for him except $$$ sooo.....what the HELL am I saying?! Drayton giving up that much $$$?! NO WAY we get Colon now that I'm back in the real world.....:o

Pettite's only a year older and a lefty would go well with Os and Miller, but no complaints about Colon.
Your case has the Astros getting rid of Wags and Hidalgo but no expectation for getting anyone in return to contribute immediately. The Astros window is shutting and will need to get impact from a trade of that magnitude. I would hope that the Astros would get either a stud SP (maybe a sign/trade for one of those two) or stud CF in return and then sign the other position through FA?

Colon isn't all that. He was inconsistent this year. He is no Roy Oswalt, if that's what you are expecting. Look at Colon's numbers if you don't believe me.
