View Full Version : Small news on new uniforms...dont read if expecting a lot!

I know there have been hundreds of new threads about the new uniforms and I am getting a little sick of them myself. However, I called 610 the other night and talked to them about the new unifroms and they expected them to be released when the comets season is over because according to them are getting new ones also. Nothing big there but I dont even follow comets so I have no idea when their seasons over. Second of all, on the rockets homepage through nba.com, they took of the new uniform section. That makes me belive they have the design already because that was a fan feedback forum type deal but I noticed it was missing today. Just some little news to entertain the dreadful offseason. I am sure I will get "bashed" for this thread but I did not read this news on the other threads and watned to let those who were interested know.

like i said i dont follow the comets, but it looks to me they have the some ones as last year? i tried cutting and pasting pics but i could easily be wrong but thats what 610 told me

PS: I think the WNBA season got started alot later because of that Player Salary squabble they had that almost cost them the entire season. Too bad, we could have had the Rox uniforms alot sooner!

If they don't release it until the end of the comets season, then we will have to wait until a month before the NBA starts?? Why does our franchise have to be sooooo slow. I can't take it anymore. These jerseys, if we ever get them, better be good to make up for this incredibly long wait. I'm not sure if i speak for everyone, but i think most fans have been waiting since '97 to get new unis.

Heh heh... I know how you feel. But it's kind of exciting too. We have a new coach, a new uni, a new arena and a better Yao next year to look forward too.

In reality, I don't want the unis to be "ground breaking" or "flashy." I want them to be sharp looking. Like the Comets, Astros and Texans. They are respectable, unique and good looking. NOT TACKY!

I assume they will wait until AFTER the playoffs are over. That pushes the Uniform unveiling until SEPTEMBER!? Horrible!
This needs to be done July/August. Not wait until just ONE month from training camps to show off the new unis? Don't they need time to print up an NBA Floor for the Rockets? Or merchandise? Is one month enough time? I don't know.
Who at 610? Those guys don't know any more than we do depending on the person.
That seems awfully late in the game anyway.

I agree Jeff just reporting what they said and they could easily be wrong, it was late friday night and to be honest I forgot who was hosting then. They hit on the point we all said that since we dont have a high draft pick we wont show it off then. Sorry if the news isnt to concrete but its something.

Oh, no. It's cool you gave it a shot. Anything is something at this point. :)
It was probably Matt Jackson and I can pretty much guarantee you he doesn't know. Most likely speculation on his part.

Hye jeff I dont know if it was you or not or if youll remember but a couple years back when you had the saveourrockets thing I think I came in with a friend to help volunteer. We were Juniors or Seniors in high school does name David Stein ring a bell? Just wondering if that was you or not

Can't they do all these things before the unveiling to the general public? I know there are companies that specialize in making new logos for companies and making all the signs and whatnot they need, all the while with top-of-the-line security and secrecy. (I love that center column of the Wallstreet Journal.)

You just know if they start doing that stuff that the logo will get leaked somewhere. Better to announce it publicly and then just start the production.

What happens if we make a draft day trade and move up and select TJ Ford or whomever. Will the Rockets be forced to unveil the jerseys then, or will they just use our old jerseys? Or maybe even a t-shirt with the word Rockets on it. Thanks for the info.

I agree with you mrdave543, who cares what he wears, he could wear his Texas jersey or a tutu for all I care. My question is do y'all think they would be FORCED to unveil the new jerseys then, or maybe hold back and let Francis and Yao unveil them, or none of the above.

they wont be forced to unveil it unless they actually had it done. if we somehow pulled of a superstar deal and got a high draft pick to satisfy the "splash" les wanted I would assume they would show it off assuming its finished.....

I don't think it's possible for us to move up high enough to select TJ without a first round pick ourselves. What team in their right mind would take a package of cuttino, griff, or whoever else we want to give them with out another 1st round pick in the deal. The other trades that teams in the top 10 are thinking about include swaping picks. I dont think any team cares for swaping the 44th pick, its pretty worthless. Baring a miracle, TJ just isnt gonna be a rocket.

I agree 100% , I would be surprised if the Rockets were able to make a deal at all for a first round pick or a veteran....I know there are lots of trade rumors but they usually just stay that way, rumors. I hope we do and someone like Jermaine but thats looking less likely by the minute. I just wanna make the playoffs....

Jermaine would be sweet. I would love to get him and kiss Mo T and cuttino goodbye. Move griff to the 3 and resign posey for our 2. I doubt any of that will happen. I'm sure they will make some big moves like they did when we got francis. I bet it will be something no one has heard of yet, the rockets like to pull last minute suprising deals. I wouldnt put anything past them. How about trading for Garnett, he's unhappy with the wolves right? I want to start that rumor, maybe it can come true.
