A nice series in Arlington, hopefully we can keep it going against a pretty hot Az club.
Pitching Probables:
6-23 -- Villone (0-0, 0.00) vs. Webb (3-2, 2.36)
6-24 -- Redding (4-6, 3.63) vs. Batista (5-3, 2.60)
6-25 -- Miller (5-7, 4.58) vs. Dessens (4-4, 5.38)
Fearless Prediction: Carl Spackler will make an appearance at the BOB to clean doody out of the OF pool.

Hmmm, I'll call a split of the first two, and a series win in the last.
Kind of what Rice will do....

Let's go Stros. We couldn't get them at home, so it's time to win on their turf.

It would be nice to take 2 of 3. Mabe Bagwell will snap out of his slump.:D

I love your optimistic outlook, but I also think Batista can be kinda nasty. I'm saying this with a little remorse for not being so sunny, but I think they take two of three:

Tonight is going to be a win. WE need this one badly. Bags has been much better in the last few games, I look for him to have another HR tonight. I wish Jeff Kent would play...

you mean like the cardinals and the cubs?
one loss...one night...and the bullpen sucks and the team can't beat other teams who are over .500.

Max.
What is our record against the better teams...you saw how the Yankees and Sox beat us up.....and now the Diamond backs are taking it to the stros...
We simply are an average team....with the talent on this team, the stros should have a 5 game or more lead in the central.
I am not satisfied with hanging around first....

You play those six games again and you could easily have five different outcomes. There was only one game that we shouldn't have won.

We have very mediocre (and mediocre is probably too nice a word) starting pitching outside of Miller and Oswalt, both of whom have slumped and/or been DL'd. The Cardinals have a far superior lineup, the Cubs have superior starting pitching, and we have a far superior bullpen, which puts us where we are...about even.
I am not satisfied with hanging around first....
There's really no reason to believe we should be anywhere else at this point.

Wait ... you're talking about a team with rookies on the left side of the infield, a converted, old centerfielder winding down his career, and a right fielder who sucked the last two years and was shot over the winter? The team with two starters that were considered to be decent before the season began, one of them being injured?
THAT team should be dominating the central?

i disagree that we're an average team...most teams don't have winning records against other teams with winning records...that's why those teams have winning records to begin with!
yes..we lost to the red sox and yankees in respective three games series...but we've fared quite well against the good teams in our own division, which is far more important to me than how we do against AL East clubs.

We may be only an average or slightly above average team, but that may be all it takes to win this division.
Who ever wins it will probably only be 10 games over .500 at best.

Last week when the Astros lost 2/3 to the D'backs, Arizona was below .500 so those games don't count as losing to +.500 teams. :)

Ummmm....Blum and Everett are rookies? Hidalgo has always had the talent, and the shot in the arm seems to be the shot in the A$$ that he needed.
This team should be dominating the central.....if only Oswalt and Miller would pitch to form the rest of the pitching staff can be around .500 and we win going away.

Ensberg doesn't count as a rookie either. He had something like three at-bats too many last year.

What's with not playing our leading HR hitter - Ensberg. This platoon is stupid the way Ensberg is playing. This was the 3rd straight game Blum started at 3rd. You NEED to get Ensberg in the lineup!

Spence,
It is all part of Jimy's secret strategy of saving the good players for the lousy teams, and hoping to eek a win out with scrubs against the better teams.
Keep it quiet, we don't want everyone to know.

Who else watched the game on Tuesday night and saw that idiot reach over the fence in Arizona and almost cost the Dbacks a run? That was great haha.

Wow, the Astros sure do suck if they can't win one game against a team with their three best pitchers gone (the other being the traded Kim).
They better win 2 outta 3 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or they need a trade (and they better win so I can FINALLY see a win at Minute Maid).

I think it's 8 straight now.
PHOENIX (AP) -- Lyle Overbay homered and Elmer Dessens earned his first victory since May 25 as the Arizona Diamondbacks won their eighth in a row, 3-2 over the Houston Astros on Wednesday.

Stros just don't look like a contender right now....they don't have that spark.
DD
chicago and st. louis have that spark? they've struggled just as much as we have over the last few weeks. i'm not saying any of the 3 are looking like world-beaters but we certainly have a shot at the playoffs in this division. hopefully the return of kent will jolt our lineup and of course oswalt will help A LOT.

We have yet to have our lineup hitting like it should nor have we had our two all-star potential pitchers pitch at their level. And we're still a game out of first. There's more than half of the season left...we're going to be fine.
