View Full Version : Did we screw Toronto?
A sick thought just crossed my mind. Toronto jerked us around and ruined our relationship with Mario Elie by pretending they were about to trade Stoudamire to us. Did we just return the favor? All these rumors of Mobley going to Toronto, complete with leaks to Clutch, the Toronto media, et al -- was it in part a nasty little set-up? (Let's posit hypothetically that some of it was genuine fear, and some of it was to convince the NBA we hadn't already cut a deal with Mobley.) By jerking around the Raptors' attention and their plans for distributing cap space, did we help queer their courtship of Croshere, Lewis, and others? Remember, Mobley wouldn't have to participate in or be aware of this scam. The Rockets could pull it off all by themselves.
I don't quite believe it, but I'd love it if it were true.

Also, Mobley could have participated in it: He did say that they were "50/50".

a portion of your sick thought crossed my mind -- i thought the mobley to toronto aspect was a smokescreen to disguise an early signing by cuttino --
however, bringing elie into this conspiracy is pure genius -- oh!, if it were true!!!!
NS -- Yes, but did Mobley himself ever say anything more than "50/50"? (Serious question -- I don't remember.) Any intelligent free agent might say that, just to keep his leverage. There's a huge difference between "50/50" and "as good as gone."

Would this conspiracy also involve Francis and Vince Carter? Francis stated the Carter was calling Mobley everyday. I think it was for real, but then what do I know http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

I don't see where Toronto's interest in Mobley would have hindered their chances at Croshere or Lewis. Toronto has been pretty up front about the fact that Lewis and Croshere where higher on their wish list than Cuttino. Mobley was simply an alternative in case options 1 and 2 fell through.

Will.......I don't think Mobley or Houston screwed Toronto.......A guy named Mcgreedy......wanted more money and leave his cousin, while playing around in the season tellin Toronto he's probably goin to stay....that sick punk knew all along he's goin to leave but, wanted Toronto to get nobody in return.......anyway Toronto never screwed Houston with Mario it was the punk GM Isiah Thomas ......you've probably heard of him.....he screwed Toronto and Houston!!!!!
Now that X-GM Isiah is going to screw the Pacers......that guy just luves to screw everyone he meets.......i know he looks so innocent with his charming smile and that innocent smile but he's a devil behind that mask!!!!
