Thomas and Rodman both made that claim back when they were Pistons. I'm paraphrasing here, but they basically claimed that if Bird had been black, he would be considered nothing special and that his talents were very ordinary ones for a black player, exceptional for a white player. In essence, they said that Bird was a white media creation. ------------------
