My nomination goes out to George Blanda. I can't recall the season-- probably moestavern can.
Blanda won about 5 games single-handedly with last-second, heroic field goals or TD passes.
I know that others have surpassed by less meaningful statistics, but as Al says, "Just win baby!"

Earl Cambell 79 or 80 completely carried the Oilers on his back. Some of the greatest highlight runs, especially with those old tear away jerseys.

My top three would be...
1) The year Jerry Rice set the td and yard record for a wr, despite missing 4 games
2) Dickerson's big year.
3) Marino's big year.

How about current on-pace-for totals this season?
Rich Gannon - 465/685 5398 yards 67.3 comp pct. 35 TD 16 INT :)
Jerry Rice (40 years old) 99 catches 1514 yards, If he comes anywhere near that. The World should just stop and bow.
Derrick Brooks - 11 INTS 464 Yards 8 TDs. :)
But All kidding aside.
Lester "The Molester" Hayes picking off 13 passes in 1980 and being shunned by the hall of fame over and over again is a disgrace.

if i remember right, steve young had a ridiculous season statistically one year...like the highest rated season for a QB ever...but maybe that's been broken.

i remember that year well. it was 1987 and Rice only played like 12 games I think. He had 65 catches, i think, and 23 touchdowns (22 caught, 1 rushing)
1/3 of his catches were TDs!!!!
unbelievable statistic!
