Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Aggies have faired worse against the Raiders than the Longhorns over the past eight years...that's crazy. They really have the Aggies number, I guess. As for who's the 2nd best football team in Texas...I don't know. A&M still seems to do better in recruiting, but they have a worse coach. I think an A&M coaching change would settle the battle for second place supremacy. :)

As to the second best team in Texas...when was the last timeTexas Tech was ranked in the top 25? A&M is ranked at some point during the season just about every year. Apparently the coaches and the AP think A&M is better.
That was a damn exciting game. I was happy about that. It was the first time I gambled on a game too...and I lost $27.50. but, I'm glad my boys TT, Jai, and Randall played well.
I believe that Tech beating A&M means they will be ranked higher, if either are ranked. Happened last year too.
Well, at least it was a lot of fun. I'd rather watch offense than defense.
Sometimes, I actually like staying after the game after losses better than wins...cause it makes me feel better about A&M.
After wins, everybody's all happy and big headed and singing the stupid fight song about UT (I think saying "TU" is stupid).
After losses, people are shocked, but respectful, sad, but not emotionally angered (in general). Then we do yells and sing the 12th Man and also sing the Spirit of Aggieland.
IMO, the observing how my fellow students act after a loss (in general) gives me some pride in being a part of this school.
Some may boast, or prowess bold
Of the school, they think so grand
But there's a spirit, can never be told
It's the spirit of Aggieland
We are the Aggies, the Aggies are we
True to eachother, as Aggies can be
We've got to fight boys, we've got to fight
Fight for maroon and white
After we've boosted all the rest
Then they will come and join the best
Cause we are the Aggies, the Aggies so true
We are from Texas AMU (non-reg ending that I like)
The song is kinda tacky, but so be it...it's a good song and I like it.
On a separate note, I will never bet on football again (I know too little about it)...but basketball, I can't wait for the season to start.

True, but I think on field performance is a alot more important than polls. I saw AtM as high as 6 in a preason poll i couldnt believe it, if you cant score points you wont win. They might have more talent than tech. Dont the produce the most NFL players? but it seems like the talent is going to waste every year espically when they meet the red raiders. 6 of 8 thats dominance. Throw out the rankings I dont see how they will be ranked again for this year. and for techs last ranking. I dont know im a new student here and have been only following this team for 3 years. So im not sure. i wanna say maybe 95 when they had bryan hansbard and zach thomas. i dont know any long time tech fan fill us in.

OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES
Bowling Green 75, Mississippi 67, Colorado 65, Marshall 51, Minnesota 37, Colorado State 32, Boston College 27, Pittsburgh 26, Southern Miss 24, Louisville 15, Nebraska 13, Boise State 13, Texas A&M 12, Oregon State 11, South Carolina 11, Clemson 8, Oklahoma State 6, Maryland 6, Arizona State 5, Texas Tech 5, BYU 3, Fresno State 1.
==================================
These are the teams that didnt make the Top 25 this week but still go votes. How can people still vote for AtM over tech? Tech has more wins. They have played the tougher schedule, no one can dispute that. They beat a respectable team in Ole Miss and forced a OT vs a top 10 team against NC State. What has AtM done? Theyre barely a 500 team (3-2). Beat a decent team in Pitt. other than that they beat to lousiana schools. and neither was LSU. They lost 2 games at home to VT and TTU. Basically they lost both games to teams who were either on a level above them or about even. Tech is 4-2 undefeated in Big 12 play. AtM is 3-2 0-1 in big 12 play. Most importantly TECH JUST BEAT ATM. Its all reputation that is fixing to change. If this happens again next week once tech beats Iowa state and AtM slips by baylor. im never looking at the polls again.

They were in it in 1998 at one point, I believe. All the years run together, though, so it's hard to remember when they were or weren't in the Top 25. But, if we're talking about finishing the season in the Top 25, I do believe 1995 was the last time that happened.
Of course, when I started at Tech, winning seasons and bowl games were a rarity. It was a huge deal my Freshman year that Tech managed to win enough games to get an invite to the All-American Bowl. Tech athletics has come a long way since then.
EDIT: I looked it up, it had only been nine years between bowl appearances when Tech made the Independence Bowl in 1986, but still....
They did win that All-American Bowl in 1989 during my Freshman year, and that was their first bowl win since 1973.

Ill give tech their props they were good on saturday but you are not better than A&M.
Tech took advantage of a very poor performance by the Wrecking Crew and a joke of a kicker. Its good to see that the polls still show this.

I would put ole miss ahead of AtM for sure they have lost 1 game. No obviously ole miss is not better than florida. Im not sure where your getting at with this. ole miss beating florida is obviously a fluke.Tech beating atm is not its almost become expected for tech. You cant compare Florida to Texas AtM, Atm shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentece with florida. And im not suggesting Tech has earned that right either far from that. tech is clearly a better team than atm . not to many people will dispute that

18. Texas Tech 4-2
Why Texas Tech should be ranked higher: To put up that many points at Texas A&M is unbelievable. A&M might not allow 48 points at home over the rest of the year. The Red Raiders are two feet away on a missed field goal against NC State from being 5-1.
Why Texas Tech should be ranked lower: Texas A&M’s offense is getting better, but it still isn’t a juggernaut. Even so, the Aggies ripped through the Red Raider defense like it wasn’t even there.

Texas Tech is 6-2 over their last 8 games vs A&M.
2-2 at Kyle Field.
I would venture to say that Tech is a better team than A&M and has proved it repeatedly over the the past 8 years.
Texas Tech, Texas and Virginia Tech all have longer current winning streaks than the Aggies do at Kyle field.

It's not hard to see why any non-Aggie in this state has a hard time taking A&M's act seriously. This holier than thou bit and the defense that A&M is tantamount to the US military is just a joke. Yes it was affiliated in its past but now it has an ROTC just like any other university or high school in this country. Do you think there are no veterens who graduated from Texas Tech or UT? T_J's post is a great example of how Aggies don't know how to take a harmless joke. T_J was certainly not trying to belittle General Patton. It's just that when I go to A&M and see t-shirts with his words about A&M on them, or see a poster's sig with the Patton words, it gets old and it makes it seem like the Aggies are trying to assert some sort of superiority over others.
A&M had this ribbing from T_J coming to them after they made the very poor decision to print the classless clowns comment in their media guide. A&M is certainly not above ridicule.
I guess if you say to yourself and others how classy A&M is over and over and over, eventually you will believe it to be true. Most every body else in this state simply blows the Aggies off to be full of themselves and a silly act.
And by the way - I did not attend UT or Texas Tech.

Sure, Tech has definitely had the edge head to head in that time period, but to say they've had more success over the past eight years is probably going a bit too far.

I didn't like the fact that was printed in the media guide either. They worded it improperly. It should have read more like, "the Tech fans who participated in shoving the goal posts into a crowd of Aggie fans are a bunch of classless clowns" or "the tech fans who threw batteries at Aggie football players are a bunch of classless clowns." I think those would have been two honest, truthful comments. But the way they wrote it implied that all Red Raider fans have no class, which is something that obviously isn't true. So, I would have also been offended by the media guide IF I was a Tech fan who didn't participate it the activities or didn't find them amusing. As for the others, who gives a ****?
As for your whole "Aggies thinking their superior" comment...it's called school spirit...nothing more...nothing less...Aggies just happen to have a lot of it. I don't neccesarily think that's a bad thing.

I'm not out to embarass. The Aggies on this board are good people. They don't sound like they're hardcore Aggies (Refman justifying the Corps attack on fans violating sacred Kyle Field was odd), and that is a good thing.
Some points I feel that I should make here:
1) Not everyone at A&M thinks the same way.
2) Good Ags, IMO, take a loss with pride, don't act bitter, don't act arrogant, stay after the game and support the team. The so-called 2%ers are really like 10 % after a win and %50 after a loss, cause that's how many people left before and during the end of the game.
3) Tozai, who sucks? A&M basketball? Probably in relation to the rest of the big 12, but the dudes are badass ballers who could school your ass anytime. The chicks are pretty good too, just most of them don't like the coach who is a politician, not a good coach. And I was refering to betting on basketball in general, cause I know a lot about hoops, I'd like to think.
PS. did you get the hook up from the DirectTV stuff we talked about way back when?
4) The Corps is not affiliated with the US Military. Your local recruiter will tell you that, but then again, you really shouldn't talk to your local recruiter if you're in search of the truth. General Patton is a legendary and respected hero in my book, but it was a joke and was funny. Times have changed. And in while there are many kick-ass Aggies in the armed forces, the Corps at A&M really kind of sucks overall. I have spoken to many officers in the Marines, and Aggies on their way to becoming officers. Their unanimous opinion of the Corps is that it is too stupid overall, the way things are ran, and the things that go on. The only advantage that I have been told is that it will help you get in shape, even though the USMC is much more physically demanding.
5) I met Sammy Morris my senior year of high school back in 1999 up in Lubbock. Anyhow, after he told me that he played for Tech, I told him that I was at the Tech @ A&M game on a recruiting trip just a month or so before. Then he told me that the Corps guys treated their team real bad, cussing and yelling obscenitities and stuff. He was very nice to me...very involved in his Christian beliefs. Anyhow, one year later, while Tech is beating #5 nationally ranked A&M, I realize that it is Sammy Morris who is having an awesome game, and he was like they're 3rd string running back. It was nice to see him do well.

You know I think it's strange that people will ridicule a school because of its traditions. I never made fun of Texas Tech fans throwing tortillas...I actually thought it was a nice tradition. It didn't hurt anybody. The military is a LARGE part of A&M's history...sorry you feel inclined to belittle the school.
