View Full Version : Bostjan Nachbar

I read a street and smiths mag a while ago and i looked at the article on the rockets and they say that we are gonna suck. Our overall rating was like a 70, and our draft grade was a 78 or 79. Man we don't get any love. They said other than francis, our team is 1 of the most untalented teams in the nba.

On a good note the said Nachbar would suprise a lot of people and that he will earn a starting role on our team if rice is still trippin (playing bad). They also said Nachabr will be a future nba star.

Sounds like Nachbar is a great player. I knew he was good, but after reading so many things about him this guy is looking better and better.

Nachbar and Griffin are the 2 rockets i'm am dieing to see in action this next season. It used to be Yao, and Francis.

He spells his name:

Bostjan Nachbar

:D

Stevie?? you responded to me instead of fixing the title???

here's how you fix a title:

hit this icon above your post,

<img src="http://65.57.229.29/bbs_images/edit_bbs.gif">

this brings up the edit post page. You will see your title in a grey window. It is editable for 5 minutes. You can also edit your posts for unlimited minutes, but after five a message will appear that you did edit.

btw: I'm really excited about Nach and Griff, too, but more excited about Yao.

btw btw: I'm a terrible typer in an unfixable way. Somehow my fingers type anything that is a phonetic equivalent to what my brain wants. I feel your pane.

Is Bostjan gonna be ready for the preseason opener on October 8? I know he had surgery this summer so I hope he will be ready to play. I cant wait to see what he can do.

Nachbar played on the same Euro team as the Nuggets number 5 pick this year, Nick.... Tschtic..... (Nickoloz Tskitishvili) whatever. Anyway Nick couldn't get any playing time because he was behind our own Bostjan Nachbar.

Here are the Benetton 2001-2002 team stats

http://www.euroleague.net/stats/statsTeam.jsp?id=TRE

Da Man got like 12 mins. in the regular season.

24 mins in the round of 16

and 0 mins in the final 4.

Those stats seem ridiculously low for a guy who was touted as highly as he was...was he hurt last season?

Thats true, he barely got off the bench, but only because he is so young.

The Euros are really old school. You earn your playing time, and you earn it, in large part, via seniority. So the young guys rarely play that much in Euro ball, or that's just what I know of it.

I think it's laughable that any publication thinks that lowly of the talent level on this team.

I only hope you save that article and mail it back to them after we make the playoffs.

skita was drafted on pure potential and glimpses of what he can do. his numbers are nothing but apparently he's talented.

I did a lot of research on Nachbar when I found out we might draft him and everything I found was good. I think he could be the best player in the draft. IMHO

I saw the Street and Smith magazine. I never have liked the format or the articles. I flipped straight to the information about the Rockets and just put it back on the rack. Basically, Yao's not gonna be very good, the team's gonna blow, etc etc.

TSN's NBA magazine is pretty good. The one I'm waiting for is 2002-03 Fantasy Basketball, something like that; the same publisher just released their 2002-03 Fantasy Hockey, so maybe the NBA one will be out soon. It's expensive-ish; $10; but it's very well done.

And I hope Noki is as good as we all think he'll be. Which he should be.

Don't get too high on Boki. The word at Westside is that Boki may not be as good as Dan Langhi -- and we all know how Langhi performed during the regular season. So don't get your hopes to high just yet on Boki.

I have heard no reports that Boki is even playing at Westside, and I'm sorry if your name doesn't instill great confidence in me.

If you had ever seen footage of Boki slashing to the hole and jamming the ball you would not make Langhi comparisons.

Boki also had a hernia surgery this summer and is still not 100% but is getting close so if he is not quite up to par yet I can understand.

So in short I will keep my high hopes for Boki, and as for you as a reputable source of information on events at Westside I have no hope at all.

I'd guess that he's extremely pessimistic. Troy was like that, from what little I read. Steve wanted to leave, MO was 500lbs, Yao would kill the Rockets, Cat wanted to eat some steak, Moochie flew into space and died, you know, stupid things. (btw, I just made most of these up. He didn't really say ALL of them.) :D

No, I THINK he's been in Houston for a while. I want to say his clearance to play basketball just happened, and he may be playing pick-up games at Westside.

Or maybe he's traveling to the North Pole. I don't know for sure.

Not to turn this into a "TroyBaros nostalgia" thread LOL, but Troy gained notoriety for more than his pessimism; if i'm not mistaken, he had access to some inner circles among the Rockets players, in particular Stevie, and he shared and relayed Stevie's alleged negative, pre-WC opinion of Yao. I haven't seen Troy post much since a few weeks before the WC's. Does westside_spy spell the end of TroyBaros?

from here on out we should just refer to Troy as a liar, and a pedophile. That way, even if he was correct, he'll never experience the satisfaction of having had other people believe him (well I believed him at the time, but that was before I learned he was a liar, and a pedophile).

Yeah like were gonna take you serious with a name like "westside spy" and your first post like that. You obviously just made that nick to post that particular message. Your probably some pissed off nuggets fan who is still sulking cause your team picked Tskitishvili instead of Nachbar.

I have the upmost confidence in Boki. From the clips of him that I've seen to the report of his lights out shooting perfomance when he worked out for us, I think he's gonna be an axcellent player.

Now I have some problems w/ the rest of the article. The Rocks ae one of the most untalented teams in the L? Yeah Mobes, sucks even though he was 5th in the L in scoring after the AS break. Griffin didn't show any flashes of talent in his rookie season. Ming only averages 21 & P at the WC's so he's gonna be a bust. Mo T and KT aren't even average players and Mooch is the worst backup PG in the game. Thats ridiculious! We have more "talent" than the Knicks, Heat, Jazz, Sonics, TWolves, Wizards, and the list goes on. Just read my sig, once all of our talent matures and melds together, the return of Cluthc City will be complete.

Just like I posted previously, dont get too high on Boki -- he is not as good as Dan Langhi. You saw a glimpse of that last night. He is not as athletic as Langhi, and he is definitely not ready defensively --- he was abused by Stephen Jackson -- a role-player at best for the Spurs. The total lack of defense, not too mention the missed wide-open jumpers by a supposedly great shooter doesnt look good for Boki. And with TMo showing signifcant improvement means Boki will spends lots of time in Langhi's old spot -- at the end of the bench. I guess the early reports from Westside were accurate --- Boki is a "less athletic Dan Langhi" at best.

Defense was extremely suspect. He is coming off surgery, but that does not sound good. Remember, he is coming from a league that played little defense and these stories that are reported about him making all of these shots were without a defender in his face.

Maybe he will develop, but I do not think we can expect much for a while.

Boki sucked more than Langhi ever sucked before...

But it's one game, he was probably real nervous. The staff will work on him, and now he has his feet wet. Injury could be a factor too. It doesn't really matter, with the emergence of TMo, Boki can be brought along slowly and can heal first.

The funny thing is, if Boki had played great, I'm sure this guy would have been falling out of his chair to point out how it was ONE preseason game against a Spurs scrub and how we shouldn't read too much into it.

You guys are judgemental little beeyatches, how'd you do your first day on the job. Granted he may have problems getting on the court if TMO and more importantly Rice play well and are healthy but to call him a bust at this point is ridiculous. Beeyatches.

If I had 3 months of procedures and training prior to my first day I would expect to fit in on my first day on the job.

He has plenty of time to get better, but to label this guy a Peja, or any thing else is crazy at this point, just as its crazy to write him off.

But as stated, all of these great shooting exhibitions the coaching staff and press have talked about were done without some one running at him or a hand in the face. That will be the big adjustment, but should come in time.

btw:

Emmanual Ginobilli was abused by Cuttino last night. This year could be regarded as the Foreign Wake Up call in a way that teaches us the foreign players can play offense and defense in the NBA, or this could be regarded as the "Foreign Wake Up" call in that it teaches us that foreign players who are not 7 foot tall are not going to shock the league anymore than Peja airballing that shot of his life did.

Will the Foreign role in the league be a dime a dozen, spot-up shooter who can't really drive like in their videos, or will the Foreign role include defense.

So far, it doesn't include defense.

There is also the matter of Boki playing with new orthotics (shoe inserts). Trust me, I have these, due to having high arches (I'm not sure about Boki's problem: flat feet? high arches?), and especially at first, they affect your ankles, shins, thighs, hips....adjusting to them might also take something out of his game.
