I meet with Bucky Richardson about once a week. We talk alot about football, but what concerns me the most is his state of being. After the horrible loss of his wife and only son. It has seemed to take a toll on his well being. I fell very sorry for the man who once played quarter back for the Oilers, and wasn't afraid to lay it all on the line on special teams. Tell me one quarter back in todays game that does that.

My heart goes out to Bucky. :(

Hey Roc,

Bucky was my all-time favorite quarterback (as a former DL, I respect any "skill" position player who did more with less like him) but I hadn't heard what happened to his family. What happened? If you get the chance, tell him at least one fan (not even an Aggie, no less) remembers him and wishes him all the best.

I loved Bucky! Him and Cody Carlson are my all time favorite oilers. Wish him well for me also

Bucky! Man I loved that guy! What's this about his family? I didn't hear the sad news. What is he up to now? (If you don't mind sharing and he doesn't mind that you share).

I mentioned Bucky in another thread yesterday, not knowing anything about his life since he left pro football. I don't know the particulars of what happened, but my heart goes out to the guy.

Yes, please tell us about the situation with his family. I was sorry when the Oilers gave up on Bucky. I loved the idea of a QB being on the suicide squads.

I grew up an Aggie fan because of Bucky. What happened? :(

He was so close to beating the Cowboys in that 2-14 year. That would have been great for him.

Did not hear about family tragedy, last I heard he was busted as a client of the Fruit Sisters.

i do remember all kinds of wild rumors about bucky messing around with bagwell's wife...i have no idea if those rumors are true or not...

but how tragic if he lost his wife and children...i can't imagine how painful that would be.

I had no idea Bucky had been though so much. Bucky was the man with the Oilers. My thoughts and prayers are with him.

Roc Paint, I assume you haven't seen this thread since you first posted. However if you have read this thread, please tell us if you can or cannot tell us about Bucky's situation. Thank you.

Ironic how the most popular QB's ever at UT and A&M are both from Louisiana.

Six or seven years ago Bucky's family was vacationing in Colorado when their car drove off a cliff, and both his wife and son were killed. Ever since the accident, Bucky has let himself go. By that I mean he doesen't even look like Bucky. He is now 6-5 and well over 300lbs. It has taken it's toll on his mind also. He still has great knowledge of the game of football, but he is a little slow in speech and in the way he carries himself. It's a really sad situation. :(

that is absolutely horrific...i'm so sorry to hear that. was never a big bucky fan on the field, but what an awful burden to have to bear.

He still wears his Cotton Bowl ring everyday, and he is most proud of the fact that he was able to buy his father a new house.

Just trying to shed a little light.

Thats really heartbreaking.Bucky was a really fun guy to root for because you knew he was always giving the effort. It must be hell for him living with such loss.I hope he can find some happiness again.

Bucky gave me a lot to root for my freshman year at A&M. I'm simply shocked and horrified to hear about his personal loss. Please send him all the best from yet another well wisher.

I talked to him tonight, and the good news is he's giving me an autographed jersey of David Carr. (SWEET!!)

Thank you for all of the well wishes, I am sure he appreiciates it.
