Woohoo that dude rocks! He & Munro have some guts out there (unlike Redding, who has the stuff). For at least one day! :)

I loved how he attacked Sosa.
Dude needs a haircut though.

How many great starting pitching performances have the Astros rewarded with a loss due to no offense recently? Sad. :(

True enough. Did Saarloos get the win , or was it a reliever?

He got the win. Good thing too. Good for his confidence.

I think that Munro will be our #5 starter should they play next season. Maybe Saarloos can join the rotation as well. I think Mlicki will not be resigned and, sadly, I think Shane Reynolds is done.

Only 6 back of St. Louis.
This race could get a lot closer next week.
St. Louis is headed to SF for 4 games while we get Milwaukee then the Pirates at home.

Maybe his stock went up a little and he could be used in a trade.

Yesterday was the first time I saw Saarloos, and I didn't see the whole game, but when I saw him throw his changeup, I flashed back to Frank Viola in the world series against the Cardinals. It's a potentialy awesome pitch that he has.
I would have liked, however, to see him throw some kind of pitch that tailed away on the right-handers, and I don't think that it's necessarily a good thing that his fastball has pretty much the same motion as his change.
Anyway, I think that considering how little professional experience he has, and the quality of that one pitch, it would be in the Astros best intrests to keep him around to work with Hooton on developing a bit more diversity to what he throws. Generaly, I came away impressed.

 the astros aren't about to trade saarloos based on
three bad starts. he dominated AA as much as possible but probably isn't ready for the big leagues yet. he did pitch well yesterday though.
