And he's the only Astro named to the team, rightly so.

Too bad Brenly felt the need to take approximately his entire team to Milwaukee with him...there's a lot more snubs on the NL side than the AL side, though how can you justify Robin Ventura over Eric Chavez? I can't.
Congrats to Berkman, though.

Benito Santiago? Is that some sort of sick joke?

Nearly identical power numbers, while Ventura leads in OBP and is playing for a team that has a better record, not to mention his own manager is picking the team.

Perhaps, but if Chavez were playing for the Yankees, he'd be considered one of the better players in the game just due to the numbers he'd put up in that lineup. I think he'll make it in the 30th man voting, but he (or another deserving player) still should've been selected over Ventura.

I can't believe none of you have metioned Berkman today. All he did was jack 2 homers and knock in 5 runs in a 6 to 5 Astros win. Man this guy is on a serious rampage.

only his second full year in majors too! I know he doesn't get as much attention by the fans as some of the other players... but this guy is a star....
How many years were we able to lock him up for? I believe we locked him up for at least a few years in the offseason at a pretty cheap price..
Drayton better start saving his money now because this guy best be on our team for a LONG time.
I remember earlier in the year some people were doubting if he could really keep up with the leaders for the most homeruns... but half way through the season with 27 homeruns.. looks like he may be able to hang with the leaders...
any idea if he is going to be in home run derby at all star game? I'm just hoping he gets some more fan support out of this great year because I want Berkman STARTING the 2004 all star game at minute maid park.... the day after winning the home run derby.. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but this guy is really good.. and it is such a relief that he seems like a truly good guy compared to some of the other stars around the game

Hey, I was gonna mention that...Berkman's swing is really looking so sweet. I really think he can come close to doing it.

Does anyone else think he'll hit 60 this year?

RICE UNIVERSITY IN THE HOUSE!
Berkman is a stud. Representing South Main very well. A true throw-back player.
berkman will be in the home-run derby with bonds, sosa, and green for the national league.
