I hate the Lakers but I love Robert Horry.

Just answer me this. Is Robert Horry the greatest high pressuer clutch shooter of all time?

The guy is just ice freakin' cold. Unreal.

On that postgame, he was saying, "I've been in worse situations than this. I've been down 3-1 at Phoenix."

Damn!

I was about to start a post about him. What can I say... the guy is so clutch. If i remember correctly he wanted to play baseball growing up. or maybe that was someone else.. but if it was him that wanted to play baseball the astros could use someone like that for sure. lol

if the rockets were championshp contenders i would surely want him on the team again in the playoffs..

when he hit that first 3 near the end of the game i was thinking wow... leave it to horry to be clutch again.. then he hit the game winner

That was an awesome shot! .That shot reminded me of Stockton's shot over Chuck in the West finals. But damnit!!! I hate the Lakers! They get away with so much that it's not even funny. We should get Horry back to Houston somehow...he'd be a great asset to the team. Anyway...carry on.

The man is freakin UNBELIEVABLE! I hate the Lakers with a passion, but Horry is still my second favorite Rocket of all time. He is freakin Awesome! I bet The Cat is crying right about now and rewatching the game to see how the Kings were robbed! :D This game was evenly called, and if anything favored those ****ing Kings! Shaq hitting those pressure free throws in the second half was amazing as well. So much for the theory that you cant go to Shaq in the fourth quarter.

Horry is the Anit-Bagwell, the Anti-Jazz, the Anti-Christ! His cold blooded ass will rip your heart and eat it for fun! How many points did he have in the fourth? 11, 14?

He should definitely be in the Hall of Fame when he retires! :)

Rockets need to bring him back home. Suddenly him slacking off for a big part off the regular season does not sound so bad, does it.

As Kenny Smith once said, "The regular season is where you make your name, the PLAYOFFS is where you make your fame."

During the timeout, I kept thinking, all the Kings need to do is not give up an Horry three. What did they do?

There seems to be a mental block with teams regarding Horry. The guy NEVER misses those kinds of shots, and yet he is left open more often than any other player. It boggles my mind. How do you give up three wide-open three-pointers to Horry in a four minute stretch?

I'm glad for Robert, but sad for the league. As long as the Lakers keep winning, fans will lose interest. It is amazingly boring to see the same team win the title every year, unless of course, you're a fan of that team.

With that shot, the Lakers clinched a third straight title. The Kings will fold at home, and lose in six.

A Boston-LA finals would bring some of the highest ratings NBC has seen in years.

Yeah, from Bostonians and Los Angelinos.

I can't wait for that 4-0 NBA Finals! What a thrilling series that's going to be.

Actually, I'm not a fan of the Lakers. I just don't like Webber & the Kings. I wanted Dallas to beat them and the Lakers.

You know it's scary when you actually have to think about who you would want to have the ball, Horry or Jordan! lol :) I don't think a Boston/LA series would do anything for the ratings except make them worse. Why would we want to see the Boston Massacre?

If a team needs a fluke shot to take a must-win game at home after getting their asses handed to them in the previous meeting.....I don't see how that exactly portends Laker-domination for the remainder of the series.

It's now a 3 games series.

2 of 3 are at Arco.

Any Sacramento apprehension was erased after the first game, the Lakers aren't the same from last year, and neither are the Kings.

I stand by my original prediction- Kings in 6 or 7

Let's see the matchups:

Battie vs. Shaq - Advantage:Shaq
A. Walker vs. S. Walker (or Horry) -Advantage:A.Walker
Paul Pierce vs. Fox (or Kobe) -Advantage:Pierce
Williams vs. Kobe (or Fox) -Advantage:Kobe
Anderson vs. Fisher -Advantage:Even

So we have Lakers 2 1/2 to Celtics 2 1/2

Pretty even to me unless we have Horry on Walker. He's done good on Webber. Pierce might have problems if Horry is on him because of the size advantage to Horry.

Now lets see LA vs. NJ:

Maccullough vs. Shaq -Advantage:Shaq
Martin vs. Walker (or Horry) -Advantage:Martin
Van Horn vs. Fox (or Horry) -Advantage:Van Horn
Kittles vs. Kobe -Advantage:Kobe
Kidd vs. Fisher -Advantage:Kidd

Now we have Lakers 2 to Jersey's 3. This matchup is harder for the Lakers as they have to stay with Kidd. Macullough can stay and body up with Shaq and Van Horn has the size advantage over Fox. But, If Horry is in, its pretty even. Martin has the advantage because of sheer power.

I'd like to see Boston and LA because it would be cool but it would be more interesting to watch NJ vs. LA.

The Kings are like a next generation Jazz. Their crowd is the worst. They b*tch and moan at every call and they wrestle with their cows before every game to steal their bells.

Playwise, the Kings are deep, exciting and a great passing team, but the Bibby/Webber and Stockton/Malone comparisons won't be ignored for long...

Down with the Cowtown Rooters!!

Not when they're in games and series like this one.

I watched it with a crowd of 9 or 10, only 2 of us pulling for L.A. What a great feeling. If the refs call every game like they did the second half...it doesn't matter who wins.

Nah. Kenyon Martin is going to throw a punch at Shaq, he'll retaliate and NJ will win it in 5 when the true Kobe-stopper (R. Jefferson) holds him to 20 points for the whole series. .:D

I bet The Cat is crying right about now and rewatching the game to see how the Kings were robbed!

Yeah, I've complained about the Lakers and officiating in three games out of almost 100 this season.

I still think the Kings win this series in seven, which I originally predicted. If they can just get over the mental part of losing this game, they know they've outplayed the Lakers for the majority of the series. Yes, I know clearing the mental hurdles is easier said than done, but this team appears to be mentally tough. When the Lakers made their run the other night, the Kings answered back. When the Lakers made their runs tonight, the Kings usually always had an answer to keep the Lakers at bay, until the missed free throw and the final possession. The Kings know they can (and should) beat the Lakers, and they have two more games left at Arco. They still have the upper hand.

With that shot, the Lakers clinched a third straight title. The Kings will fold at home, and lose in six.

Didn't you say on Friday that the Kings would come out afraid, or something to that effect? The score may have been 40-20 after one, but the "afraid" team was ahead...

This game was evenly called, and if anything favored those ****ing Kings! Shaq hitting those pressure free throws in the second half was amazing as well. So much for the theory that you cant go to Shaq in the fourth quarter.

Yeah, if you leave out about the five times that Shaq just ran over Divac and Pollard on his way to a dunk. Once he had four fouls, it was obvious there would have to be a mugging for them to call a fifth. Oh, and I love the logic that two made free throws completely overwrites a career of underperforming from the line.

The game was far from evenly called. I watched almost all of the second half, and that was pretty clear.

Kings didn't go to the free throw line at all in the fourth until Vlade stepped up for his, while the Lakers had already been there 8 or 9 times. Several times during that second half either Snapper Jones or Walton were beside themselves when they didn't see a foul call.

Regardless, LA made some good adjustments to slow the Kings down in the second half. And Divac hits both his throws and the 3 isn't as painful for Sac.

I'd rather see the Kings win, just because I'm tired of the Lakers, but I guess if anyone had to make another big shot for LA, at least it was Horry.

I just wish he didn't disappear for us like he did before we traded him.

Sac is gonna win. The Kings didn't look sad at all. It seems like these teams switched places, what I mean in this is Sacramento didn't just stand there stunned, they walked calmly off the court. Vlade even hugged Web and I think Bibby while making their way towards the locker room. Whereas...the Lakers jizzed their sunshine yellow shorts while dry humping Robert "the Silent Assassin" Horry.

Cat, give credit where credit is due. Shaq hit some pressure free throws today and you still refuse to acknowledge his greatness.

I don't buy this "watching the same team year after year is boring" complaining. I watched every minute of today's game, and for a playoff game that involved two teams of which I had no real affiliation, I found it to be the most entertaining I have ever seen. Total determination and raw effort was exuded by EVERYONE on the floor in that 4th quarter, and it was stunning to see. Watching from chat, sometime in the mid-4th quarter I said that the only thing the game was missing to be one of the best ever was a photo finish.

Thank you Mr. Robert Horry. :D

What a game.

Two things:

a) when did I deny that the Lakers had the heart to make this comeback? I even said at halftime of the game that I expected the Lakers to make a tremendous run and make it a close game.
b) exactly what posters wouldn't be going nuts if the Rockets made a comeback like that? Any time a team you're a fan of makes a comeback like that, you're going to be excited. That's natural. I don't see the point of your post.

Cat, give credit where credit is due. Shaq hit some pressure free throws today and you still refuse to acknowledge his greatness.

I acknowledge his greatness today, but after that, I acknowledge his dominance. Just because Shaq finally hit two big free throws doesn't mean we should wipe the slate clean from all of his past mistakes.

Agreed. This was at least the best played game on both ends since the Lakers-Blazers series 2 years ago, I would say probably even better than that.

You guys are dumbasses if you think the Kings will fold. The Kings were a few plays from being down 2-0 with both games lost at home (effectively dead) and the Lakers were just one luck play (not luck shot, but luck play) from needing to beat Sac 3-0 with 2 on Sac's home court (effectively dead as well). That is the natural edd and flow of a great series.

In short, this series has just started! Three games to play, two at Sac's place. The possible return of Sacs 2nd best player who has yet to play in the series. This is all Sac could have hoped for, especially after dropping GAME 1 at home. Again, this series JUST STARTED. Best damn series in a long time, sit back and enjoy because only idiots are overly confident about who is going to come out on top.
