PSJ, want to move the mock draft here? hope you will repost yours here!

well here's my picks. i reserve the right to change it up till thursday :)

1. Seattle - Swin Cash, insurance for LJackson and keeps other teams from getting much better.

2. Detroit - Sue Bird, they need so much and Kingi can't be relied upon to come back apparently

3. Washington - Nikki Teasley, if she is a head case Washington loves that.

4. Washington - Asjha Jones, Bullett won't be around forever.

5. Portland - Stacey Dales, Hargrove is turning cartwheels. Personally, I think they needed post.

6. Minnesota - Michelle Snow, Agler has so much talent he can take a chance.

7. Orlando - Sheila Lambert, cus Dee wants her. They needed a post (in my opinion of course).

8. Cleveland - LaNeisha Caufield, heard they need a shooter.

9. Charlotte - Danielle Crockrom, Van is cursing.

10. Houston - Deanna Jackson, I don't know why. He never takes who you think. Or Awalker, or Gortman or Maiga

11. Utah - Tawana McDonald, so I'm guessing from here on <grin>.

12. Sacramento - Hamchetou Maiga or else Gortman as my 2nd choice

13. Indiana - Tamika Williams

14. New York - Ayana Walker, or else Angie Welle

15. Miami - Shaunzinski Gortman

Very nice, Outlaw. Thanks for listing the starting fives. Minnesota is looking tough. If the Comets get Cockram, I will be very happy from what I have heard. Knowing Van, he will pull some person out of a hat that we never heard of. :(

If Seattle does go with Bird, and that is probably most likely, then my whole draft will be wrong lol.

Good job Outlaw. The starting fives make everything clearer. I also reserve the right to change my mock before and after the draft :)

SEATTLE Sue Bird, 5'9", Connecticut
The allegation, Seattle can't protect a lead down the stretch. The verdict, to help alleviate this problem the Storm will be looking to draft someone who can control tempo and who can push the ball when needed. Last year the Storm were all over the place. This year they will look for help in many areas in the draft, but especially in transition. Sue Bird will push the ball with confidence. She's an excellent passer and will give Seattle the excitement they have lacked. She can also slow the ball down and protect a lead. She is tough defensively and mentally, has incredible court vision and runs the offense to near perfection... She might not score 20 points every game, but she's the glue that holds a team together.

2 DETROIT Stacey Dales, 6'0", Oklahoma
If the Detroit Shock and Detroit Lions are finding comfort in one another it would be understandable. They both need a lot of help. Dales is an excellent pick for Detroit. She's not your typical carbon copy wing. She's versatile. She's going to give you two or three positions and a deft touch from beyond the arc. She is a good penetrator and can take anyone off the dribble. Room has to be created for such a gifted perimeter player, but I'm sure several Shock will step aside and let Stacey bomb from downtown. Dales can also rebound and has court savvy for Detroit's uptempo style.

3 WASHINGTON Swin Cash, 6'2" Connecticut
Washington has a solid perimeter game with Chamique Holdsclaw bombing away. What they need is an inside force. Swin cash is not only a force, but she can score at will. She fit's the Washington scheme perfectly. Pound the ball into Cash and then swing it back out for the deep three. Swin's greatest attribute is she's one of the best rebounders I've seen... She's so quick, it makes her effective on defense and almost impossible to guard on offense...Runs the floor well and maintains control when driving to the basket.

4 WASHINGTON Nikki Teasley, 6'1", North Carolina
After the trade of Nikki McCray, the Mystiques will be looking to replace their backcourt with some young guns. Perhaps another Nikki. Yes, Nikki Teasley is unstable, but she has so much potential you can't pass her up at number 4. Washington makes this selection and secures there future with legitimate 20 win aspirations.

5 PORTLAND Ayana Walker, 6'3", Louisiana Tech
Portland is searching desperately for some front court help. Michelle Snow is overhyped, so they will pass on her uncertainty for the certainty of Ayana Walker. She provides a lot of size. At 6-3, she's a presence too, but at 6-7 Kara Wolters couldn't get off the bench for either the New England Blizzard or the Houston Comets. Walker is intriguing, but speed and quickness are major concerns.

6 MINNESOTA Asjha Jones, 6'2", Connecticut
Minnesota has plenty of perimeter players already, what they need is someone who can provide some low post action. Asjha uses her size well, makes good decisions without the ball, forces defenses to shift, and has excellent timing and anticipation. The Lynx can't pass her up even though she is a finesse player. The Lynx and their fans will be in the state of euphoria with this pick. But the euphoria will be short lived if somebody else doesn't step up and lead this team.

7 ORLANDO Angie Welle, 6'4", Iowa State
Orlando is in need of defense. They ranked near the bottom of the league. Angie Welles will provide some defense although not too much. She can be an automatic turnover on offense, but who cares, she'll give you some points and provides a big body to fill the paint.

8 CLEVELAND Danielle Crockrom, 6'1", Baylor
Nobody bothered reshuffling. No need. The deck was already stacked. The Rockers simply need to add one player here and one player there in order to improve. Danielle Crockrom could be that player for Cleveland. They will return with pretty much the same lineup as last year and should be able to gain some ground on the aging teams in their conference.

9 CHARLOTTE Tamara Moore, 5'11", Wisconsin
She's versatile and can play many positions. That's just what the doctor ordered for Charlotte. The Sting will once again be looking to do damage in the post season and Tamara may be able to take them to the next level. Badgers have a way of doing that.

10 HOUSTON Sheila Lambert, 5'7", Baylor
Whatever you've heard about guard Sheila Lambert, it's not enough. She's one of the hardest matchups for any cover, and she will be for whomever must guard her in practice. She's scary-quick, versatile and really understands the game. The Comets had one of two positions to fill a few weeks ago. The addition of Rebecca Lobo solved one of those problems. The Comet's will now be looking to draft a point guard. Sheila Lambert should fall to the Comet's dues to her recent injury. She will be the best and most disciplined point guard left. She's home grown and has good self-discipline

11 UTAH Deanna Jackson, 6'2", Alabama-Birmingham
Jackson is a defensive stopper who has a few low post moves that will come in handy for Utah. The ship is sinking in Utah and I think everyone knows it, but Deanna is a pick that will help to plug a few holes.

12 SACRAMENTO Felicia Ragland, 5'9", Oregon State
Felicia has excellent court awareness. Sacramento already has excellent backcourt play and if someone could get open they would truly benefit. Felicia can do that. She can elevate the level of her team’s play... Has strong, authoritative confident style... Has tremendous potential to be a truly great player...

13 INDIANA LaNeishea Caufield, 5'9", Oklahoma
Caufield has terrific potential as both a scorer and a defender. She can do a little bit of everything. Indiana has already filled some holes, but they need someone who can do what Caufield can. As I said, do just a little bit of everything. Caufield is a winner, is remains to be seen how she will handle losing with Indiana.

14 NEW YORK Tawana McDonald, c 16

15 MIAMI Kelly Komara, 5'7", Purdue
She's a solid defensive performer. There isn't much left to pick from here. So you go with a specialist. A specialist from Purdue isn't too shabby.

LOS ANGELES Lindsey Yamasaki, 6'1", Stanford
The Sparks are the world Champions. They don't need very much and they shouldn't expect to get it drafting dead last. Lindsey is a good pick here. She is very good, very big, very fundamental and very good at shooting the ball... Makes good decisions in half-court set... Very coachable player... Respectful of teammates, opponents and officials... Explosive off the dribble... Good vertical height... Finds her way to the free throw line... Is a creator for herself and teammates... Keeps others involved... Has great court vision...

Thanks PSJ for reposting!

Wow, Tonya Edwards (guard) has announced her retirement, Katy Steding has retired and Stacey Lovelace has been released - all Seattle Storm players. I will definitely change my first pick to Sue Bird tonight. I don't think Lin Dunn will trade the #1 pick.

Strengths:  Came on very strong as season progressed... Shows good body control inside... Had a GREAT workout at the predraft camp...Versatile, developing an outside game and ability to drive... May dunk during a game if the opportunity arises... Most scoring currently comes from offensive boards... Needs to increase her offensive arsenal... Creates decently off the dribble down low... Very aggressive on the boards... Spent the summer serving an internship with the WNBA’s Washington Mystics...

Weakness: Needs to be more aggressive player...

Other: After dunking in warmups throughout her sophomore year, Michelle didn’t wait long as a junior to jam…Her first career dunk in a game came in the third contest of the 2000-01 season when her two-handed slamming, hanging on the right side of the rim jam, occurred with 10 seconds left before halftime of the title game at the Women’s Maui

2001 Tournament against Illinois on Nov. 25, 2000…She stepped up to steal the ball at the high post and sailed all the way to the bucket…In flight, she jammed the ball through the hoop with both hands and then hung on the rim to put an exclamation point on the dunk...The dunk was the first by a woman captured on live television…The junior post became just the second women’s player to record two dunks in a season when she threw one down against Vanderbilt in Nashville on Jan. 23, 2001...Her second jam came with seven seconds remaining in a game that the Lady Vols led, 68-61, prior to the slam…In the designed play to either a post or a guard, Kara Lawson took the ball out on Vandy’s baseline and rifled a 60-foot Peyton Manning-type pass to Michelle who was breaking to the basket from halfcourt…She deposited the two-handed slam, sent the crowd into a frenzy, and then was whistled for a technical foul by official Patty Broderick for lingering on the rim too long…With that dunk, she joined 6'7" Georgeann Wells from the University of West Virginia as the only women to dunk twice during a season (Wells dunked first on Dec. 21, 1984, and again later that same month)...As a junior, Michelle played in 33 games and started 28…She averaged 11.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg and blocked 1.4 shots per contest…UT’s most accurate shooter at .572 from the field…Turned in 20 games in double-figures scoring and six games of extra-digit rebounds…Her five double-doubles as a junior gives her 11 for her Lady Vol career…Became the 25th Lady Vol all-time to register 1000 career points…Joined the exclusive club with a 19-point performance in her home state of Florida with a 103-73 victory over the Lady Gators…Had her first collegiate buzzerbeater with the game-winning shot with 0.1 of a second remaining to help the Lady Vols to defeat LSU, 75-73…Called her 18 point, 11 rebound performance against Stanford as her best all-around game of the season…Snagged 14 rebounds in the outdoors game against Arizona State at the BankOne Ballpark “to stay warm”… Michelle was named as an Honorable Mention All-America by the Associated Press…Selected by the coaches to the first team All-SEC…She was one of three finalists for the “Women’s Center of the Year” as presented by ESPN: The Magazine… Was a finalist for the Naismith College Player of the Year award…
2000 Michelle played in 37 games and recorded 33 starts…Averaged 11.8 ppg, grabbed 6.3 rpg and rejected 1.3 shots per contest… Tallied 25 games in double-figure scoring and three games in extra digit rebounding…Now has six career doubledoubles… Best all-around game as a sophomore came against UConn in Knoxville as Michelle tossed in 21 points and grabbed a dozen rebounds…Recorded a “mini-dunk” in the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship game versus Texas Tech…Opted for the safer finger roll at the last second…In one stretch in January 2000, Michelle scored more than 20 points in four back-to-back games: tallying 22 versus LSU, 21 against UConn and a career high 24 apiece versus Arkansas and South Carolina…Calls her effort in the 2000 SEC Tournament her best career stretch of games as she earned a spot on the All-SEC Tournament team… Connected on 75% of her shots from the floor (24-32) while averaging 12.3 ppg in the tourney…Was voted to the All-SEC second team for the regular season… Swatted an NCAA Final Four semifinal record seven shots against Rutgers… Ranked third in the SEC in blocked shots for 2000…Finished her sophomore campaign ranked fourth all-time on the UT lists in field goal percentage (.572) and eighth in blocked shots (93)…

1999 As a rookie, Michelle played in all 34 games and earned 16 starts…She averaged 8.5 ppg and 6.4 rpg…Also added 1.4 blocks per game… Turned in 13 games of double-figure scoring and four games with extra-digit rebounds…Tallied three double-doubles in her first campaign…Grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds against Mississippi State, which was the third-best performance by a Lady Vol freshman…With her arms stretched above her head, Michelle extends to a full 7'10" – it is no wonder that she rejected five shots against Boston College in the NCAA Tournament…That mark is second-best ever by a Lady Vol rookie and ranked her fifth in blocks in the Southeastern Conference…Connected on 60% of her field goal tries which ranked her third in the SEC…Michelle ranks fifth alltime in a single season for field goal accuracy with that mark…Earned her first UT career start at Ole Miss when Teresa Geter was injured…Was a shoo-in for All-SEC Rookie honors but the conference did not pick a team in 1999…Michelle did earn a spot on the All-SEC Tournament team…Shot 66% from the floor in three games and capped off her tournament showing with a 14-point and nine-rebound effort in the title game versus Georgia…Third tallest player ever for UT.
HIGHSCHOOL Michelle was a four-year letterwinner at Pensacola and was team captain her senior year…Also participated on the track team, placing in regionals her junior year, and played handball…Voted Florida’s “Miss Basketball” for 1998…Averaged 22.0 points, 15.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 4.8 blocks and 3.6 steals her senior season… Finished her high school career with 2,449 points and 1,456 rebounds to average 23.3 points and 13.9 rebounds per game…Helped Pensacola to a 26-2 record her senior year, reaching the state semifinals before losing to eventual champion Lake Mary…Squad listed as high as 10th in the USA TODAY poll…Named state’s Class 6A Player of the Year…Garnered Street & Smith’s All-America honors… A Parade All-America selection and played in the 1998 NIKE/WBCA High School All-America game…Collected MVP honors at the 1997 Florida State Tournament and was named first-team all-state after leading Pensacola to the state title and a 26-0 record…Recorded a triple-double at the regional tournament (24 points, 18 rebounds and 12 blocked shots)…Team claimed back-to-back district championships, 1997 and 1998, and back-to-back regional titles, 1996 and 1997…Pensacola squad remained undefeated at home throughout her final two seasons… Twice selected as All-Northwest Florida Player of the Year and earned all-state honors throughout her high school career…Selected to the Boo Williams All-State basketball team three times.

I thought the trade deadline was Thursday night.

Anyhow, I'm sure there will be another trade period before the All-Star game.

Until first-year players prove themselves, the starting line-up should be:

C Johnson
PF Thompson
SF Swoopes
SG Arcain
PG Washington

Bench: Lassiter, Lewis, Lobo, Snow, Stafford-Odom

I'm still not comfortable with Washington at PG. Houston desperately needs a veteran PG (with size, who can score). Swoopes, even before the ACL injury, was not reliable in the clutch.

Let's see what players Minnesota decides to renounce.

On top of all this Snow sees herself as a four. The good news is that she loves to play Lisa Leslie so she's willing to play the 5.

Outlaw, we do have a lot of questions don't we. I can't imagine Tammy Jackson making the team, but you never know. She always ends up playing.

If I had to pick 4 right now I'd take

T. Johnson
S. Johnson
Gibson
Valdemoro

I think that was for trading picks. that way the broadcast people can arrange everything correctly. you can make trades after the draft

PhiSlammaJamma, thanks for all the info!!!

Wish I'd known you guys would be around. Were yall in the chat room?

Anyway, this may be the most exciting draft so far and the most fun for me.

Way to go, Van! Danielle Crockrom or Michelle Snow, I would have been happy with either.

Congratulations, Michelle and as was said, WELCOME ABOARD!

I hope Van will invite Val Muoneke to camp (graduated University of Houston this year) as backup for Tina.

Is Tammy Jackson going to make our team this year now?

Snow (with TJohnson and Lobo playing back up)
TThompson (with TJackson and Val Muoneke)
SSwoopes (with ALassiter and Anna DeForge, free agent as b/u)
JArcain (with TLewis and Anna DeForge (free agent) as back up)
CWashington (with D-Dra Rucker, free agent as back up)

Well that's 13, two too many. Tammy Jackson goes to IR till the playoffs. DeForge or Rucker may get knocked off in a numbers game or put on IR with Tammy.

2. If he doesn't pick up Muoneke (telling ya that's a mistake), we would be:

Snow (with TJohnson and Lobo playing back up)
TThompson (with TJackson and Lobo playing back up)
SSwoopes (with ALassiter and Anna DeForge, free agent as b/u)
JArcain (with TLewis and Anna DeForge (free agent) as back up)
CWashington (with D-Dra Rucker, free agent as back up)

TJ may have to go IR here too. I don't think she'd be happy with that for her last year.

Oh wait! I'm so excited with all these new players - I definitely want Stafford-Odom on the team. Can't believe I forgot to put her on the roster.

Guess that would definitely knock off Muoneke, DeForge or Rucker.

They need to carry more players on the roster!
