Could it be the smell of an Astros choke?
Cough, cough...gasp...cough...

This sucks
Man, talk about awful.
Did you see how Bagwell and Alou acted in the bottom of the 8th after they got out. The were slumped over like they had no spines. Oh, wait. Maybe they don't! :)

Man where did the pitching go! It was looking awesome early, then they made Atlanta look the the Braves of old. Decisions like this get guys fired.

decisions like what? putting in one of the, if not the, best 1-2 closing tandems in the majors to pitch the 8th and 9th?
please don't try to make that sound like dierker's fault.
dierker didn't boot the double play ball, and dierker didn't give up the home run pitch.
you may not have been talking about dierker, and if you weren't, I apologize if I seem like I'm jumping down your throat.
but what "decisions" led to the astros choking? again.

Almost everyone knew that the game was over once Mike Jackson took the mound. Nobody was surprised to see Lugo boot that double-play ball either.

So many different decisions, but I'm not an Astros fan, but even I know that putting in Mike Jackson was akin of raising a white flag.

Um, Jeff, that smell is the charred wreckage of my TV after putting my fist through it and drop-kicking it off the roof of my apartment building.
What does choking smell like, anyway?

It certainly is not the smell of Astros' bats burning up... or is it?!

It smells very similar to the way an Oiler's postseason used to.....only a little stronger.

I will not be speaking to the media about the Astros until they are out of the playoffs.

yes, I want to recant my earlier statement. it was made on an emotional impulse.
dierker is, in the words of judge danforth from The Crucible, "a BRAINLESS man!".
my vote is for, in order:
1) felipe alou [if it means we get to keep moises]
2) tony pena
3) nolan ryan
I only got to see the very worst part of the game, right when jackson came in. when jones hit his home run and they cut to dierker in the dugout, he looked like one defeated sumbitch.
I sure wish I could've seen the postgame conference.

Do not give up so fast.
It is not over until we lose THREE times.
We will come back.
I still BELIEVE!!!
GO ASTROS!!!!
