Im not a Gm and even I know not use too much capspace on a role player, especially with out having a franchise player to even build around.

Bad contracts in nba free agency are pretty much the norm. I thought the new cba would fix that with non guaranteed contract but it was just a big waste of time, the lockout.

"if he is so damn good why is he averaging 14 and a half minutes?" the better question for that dude is why is chicago willing to match?

Because Noah is in front of him. He has an even bigger contract. The price of a big man.

The funniest part is that there will probably be another lockout when the new CBA expires, because the NBA financial system just doesn't work.

I really hope Chicago match it. God its a really bad offer from the start. Asik has never been any more than average. He's actually below average. Just because the Rockets are desperate for a center doesn't mean they can just run out and throw money at the next center they see. Most of the people here on Clutchfans are willing to throw big money at any 7 footers they see available. It can be frustrating in the desperation I see from some of the post.

I know the Rockets don't have a center but we don't have a PG either. For some reason, I don't see anyone talking about trying to get a PG as much as a center. You guys do realized that the NBA today is run by guards. Today's game is dominated by PGs. Every team has a good PG except for HOuston because they don't have a single one. I think that is a more of a concern than having a center right now. The Rockets did just as well last year as they did this year with Chuck Hayes as their starting center. This year the Rockets had Dalembert and Marcus Camby and they didn't even get any better than the year before.

This video is extremely funny and well made, and he speaks a ton of sense. But I don't think he's right about the Asik deal, 8M is par for the course for big men. Look at Kwame Brown making 9M, and Tyson Chandler making like 15. Marc Gasol is basically the C version of Lee (above average 2 way player) and he's making the max. Hell, Perkins is even worse offensively than Asik and makes 9M a year.

Big men are coming at a premium nowadays, esp. with the prevalence of extremely perimeter scorers we're seeing pop up in the league. With Asik, his offensive ineptitude might also be because he only plays 15 mins a game and he's playing for a JVG disciple who has no advanced offensive sets for big men. I think its a beyond fair deal for a player with upside, and I really hope Bulls don't match.

The reason Boozer played in front of Asik was because they also had Noah, and there's no need to have two defensive centers in the game at once, whereas Boozer's offensive repertoire was more needed in the starting lineup. Asik's value is on defense, whereas the Bulls' starting lineup's need was offense.

Very true.

The middle tier is screwing over the elite players and the front offices. The median salary in pro basketball should be much lower.

I love this show. I look forward to it every Monday and Thursday. All he tells is the truth. Everyone on here seems to love DM and calls him a "Genuineness" and says "He's playing Chess, not Checkers". A "Genuineness" would have know that it has been time to blow this up. Instead, the Rockets just wanted to be an 8th seed every year to get playoff revenue from the fans. He's right. The Rockets haven't won anything in almost 20 years. He wasn't the GM when they did. Should say something.

and you guys fell for it just cause he's charismatic? pathetic. he couldn't get minutes from boozer cause they pay boozer tons of money _for being average. ofcourse you'd choose someone you pay a lot and has proven he was good one time.

you guys are so pathetic. think deeper. he's not thabeet, he actually has potential and has the length and skill to clog the paint. before you listen to charisma, be smart. don't just agree. this is why I actually respect Hitler cause people just said yes to whatever he said. not Hitlers fault people are easily manipulated.

I agree a good bit with both responses. To be fair, I think Morey is at worst a slightly above average GM .... again AT WORST.

Though, like alot people, places, and thing that are a part of clutchfans, they tend to get overrated through the roof. It's fan mania, I guess, but it's weird I rarely see other teams overrate their GMs and D-League players as much as Clutch Fans does.

HIs agent just got done telling him the reason he didn't get a raise is because he is semi-retarded and just because you talk fast doesn't mean you know what the hell your talking about. It's not a bad contract and us rocket fans should be hoping that the bulls won't match. I guess tho after reading the comments most people will listen to anyone that talks fast, kind of funny, and has a nice suit on no matter what stupidity comes out of his mouth. Isn't there an election coming up soon? Hope you all don't fall for these tricks then.

And Dennis Rodman sucked because he only averaged 7.1 PPG and 31.7 MPG for his career and those Bulls teams would have won 2 titles a year if they had boozer there instead of him. Get real.

Dennis Rodman also avg. 13.1 rebounds for his career and 18.7 in his prime. He also was only payed $27 mil for his entire 14 year career. Asik will pretty much get that in 3 years and he will NEVER be a Hall Of Fame player.

Asik, would be perfect on a team of guys that can create their own shot (like the Heat). We've got no one on this team that can create their own shot, our PGs are currently Livingston & Machado (since Lin will be matched).

Asik is a modern day Charles or Caldwell Jones...but more likely Charles than Caldwell. He plays great D, which will help against guys like DH and Bynum, but McHale will pull him for 'small ball' just like he did Camby.

considering all above average players are migrating towards the same teams, its a necessity to over pay just to get players to consider coming to your team if you arent a popular team. Look at the spurs, whens the last time any of these big dollar free agents looking to join a championship bound team like them? Suns wouldnt get anyone unless they pay the $$$$

The video was funny BUT the video so silly bc

1) He didn't take boozers minutes bc you can't play Asik and Noah side by side bc you'd have no midrange from your 2 post players and boozer spaces the floor with a nice jumper. It's not that Asik sucks, its that Noah is a better center and Asik isn't a 4......

2)The whole basing a players value on points is ridiculous bc you can grab a Lou Williams anywhere. Really, a 6'2 SG who is a chucker? Those grow on trees, hell you can probably plug in an undrafted Aubrey Coleman and grab 70% of his production and not miss a beat. Guys like Nick Young,Courtney Lee,Foye,Jamal Crawford were all FA bench shooting guards and all can do what Lou Williams does......how many LEGIT 7 footers are FA this summer than can play solid D in the paint.........Aaron Gray? Hasheem Thabeet? This is all about paying for scarcity and this guy is arguing like an 8 yr old.....off points per game? Give me a break

The video did crack me up though.....you,asik,patterson lmao
