Returning from an hour on Boulder Creek chilling with dog trying to forget Phoenix. The girl loves it. But she is too smart. She is with me 24/7 at work and everything, and knows every route home, every turn. She knows when a turn means play time is over and we are going home. She anchors in sometimes and doesn't budge, more so in the last 2 weeks, it seems. Treats don't really work anymore. She's 9 yrs old says, "been there, done that...let's go hunting on the creek more, stupid!"

She has also figured out my training through "patience." When she anchors in and doesn't move, I wait her out...or try to change direction...like turning a horse. That doesn't really work anymore, at least recently...that bitch!

So, walking past the main tourist pedestrian mall, about 2 blocks from home...she won't budge,,,A college girl by herself (likely drunk) witnesses me tugging and giving up, and Beta laying down, ears back on the sidewalk determined not to move. She passes us and turns around to say

"do you beat your dog. I just had to ask because of her behavior."

I just said, "nah, we're just 2 blocks from home and she knows it."

I don't really think that made my case.

What really sucks is that I wanted to tell my story here for fun, but then as I nearly carried Beta towards my backyard, fireworks went off.

Now it isn't funny. I told that story here about New Years Eve in Germany when Beta wouldn't leave the house for 3 days. Bombs exploding for 2 days straight

Here:
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=213003

She is again shivering scared and hyperventilating, even after laying with her for 30 minutes. No longer funny.

I officially really hate fireworks.

The fireworks get really ****ing annoying, especially if you live on the hill

Returning from an hour on Boulder Creek chilling with dog trying to forget Phoenix.

Also, off topic, but where did you watch the game? Cuz I had a hard time finding a bar that was playing anything but hockey today

^^ Why would you get mad at someone just asking a question, Mister Sensitive?

He answered, calmly brushed it off, and went about his way. No need to have to explain to a stranger, but at least be courteous... like Mr. heyp.that bitch!http://j-walkblog.com/images/Audrey2Young.jpg
Audrey. National Lampoon's European Vacation. :o (yes, or no?)

So, what, do you really beat your dog, or no? ;)

HATE is such a strong word. You hate them because they scare your dog? Interesting concept... but I can see why.

You missed an opportunity with her. The college girl was horny and drunk. She didn't say it right.

She meant to say, "Do you beat your meat?"

Have you tried a Gentle Leader? It may help in your situation. It my walks with the dogs a lot. It isn't a muzzle. The dog can still eat, bark, bite, and all that, but she can't pull and might have a harder time digging in, when you want to go home.

Sorry about the fireworks. That sucks.

My dog does that anchor thing also. I can usually get him to break from it if I pull him downwards towards the ground.

hmmm, so you guys think maybe I should have hit on her (the girl I mean)? "Nah, she just doesn't want to go home, because my gf is in her dominatrix gear right now waiting for us, and it scares her. Are you into that? I do anything you order me to."

It's cool. I only have problems within 2 blocks of home, or when she smells something lusciously disgusting to eat....or is that disgustingly luscious?

She can be especially difficult when crossing the last street to the house, after quick pee walks when she realizes we aren't going to the creek. Now I can't help but wonder how many drivers think I beat my dog when she plops down in the crosswalk and I have no choice but to drag her.
