Hughes, McGrady, Kandi ? Do ant of you think that the Rockets are going to deal Mobley, Williams and others for any of these players or should they stand pat? I see the logic in dealing Mobley before he can get a starting job somewhere else. I would kill for a Hughes/Francis backcourt but with the Answer out I think that Philly will stay with Hughes. I read at another post about the Olowakandi (?) "deal". If that were possible, which it could be, then I would pull the trigger in a second. Whatever the Rox do, they need youth and outside shooting. Do any of you agree that CD is mulling which deal to make for Mobes, or do you think that they are going the conservative route and rebuild through the draft? Which free agents would you go after in the offseason?

Lotta questions there baller http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/smile.gif
I dont think the Rockets would go afetr kandi as they have now got Cato.
Im not sure who we have that any team would really want to badly.Mobley is doing great ATM but I dont see us getting much back for him as he has yet to prove he can do it every night.
But it is the Rockets and we all know that anything can happen!
As far as next seasons free agents go just give me Duncan and grant Hill and Ill be off..........
Back to reality,I think the Rockets should look at getting Eddie Jones. He is a great defender and a very good scorer who can play at SG and SF.I also wouldnt mind getting Brian Grant. He is a workhorse who would give us rebounding.Barkley will be gone next season and there will be a hole there at PF.Im not sure how much salary Barkley will give us though as you need to be a acountant to know!
I also think that the Rockets will go through the draft to rebuild.Because it looks like we will be getting a high pick (because of our record) we will be in a good position.

UT Baller,
December 5th is the witching for the ex-Portalnd players (Cato, Williams, Rogers) who made the team. Their 90 days will expire and they then become tradeable.
I am not saying that this is going to happen, but it is possible.
As far as next year goes, the Rocks will be over the salary cap (even after Big Sexy retires) and will not be able to pursue any marquee (sp?) free agents. Dream retires the following year, and that is when the Rocks can get serious about free agents again.
The Rocks still have their $1 million exception opened, while their $2 million exception will taken by Shandon for the next two years.
The Rockets can always sign any player to the league minimum, where the salary varies with years experience of the given player.
As far as next year's draft goes, if they miss the playoffs (very likely imo since the Western Conference is so stacked) they will have no worse than the 13th pick.
No Worries,
Anderson was signed to a 3 year deal using the Rockets "Middle Class Exception" totalling $6.6 Million. Even though the contract runs for 3 years, we can use this exception again next year to sign another free agent - it is available every year, unlike the $1Million exception which can't be used in consecutive years.
It is no coincidence that Anderson's contract expires just after the time Hakeem will retire - rumor was that the rockets promised him a decent chunk of money, but my guess is that he will be signed using the Bird exception AFTER we have pursued a big time FA that year.(because you can't use the bird exception if you are under the salary cap, which we will be when hakeem retires)
As far as this years draft pick - if we get around the 13th pick it will be similar to last year when we got Dickerson.
