View Full Version : How do some of you have 10k, 15k, 20k+ posts

I just find it amazing how there are some posters that literally have thousands of posts and when a new thread comes up they are immediately involved. I find it ridiculous that some would spend so much time on a message forum. I can understand stopping in once or twice a day but it seems that some are on here all day 24/7. Why do you people do this ?

Everyone has different pleasures, perhaps theirs is discussing Rockets basketball along with other topics that get posted here. I don't see what's the big deal.

I don't post a lot, but I spend a lot of my free time on CF. It's a place where I can discuss various topics that I enjoy. Instead of going to a bunch of other news websites, I come here because CF has everything.

I guess nobody finds it peculiar or odd for a person to spend all day on a message forum. Instead of having an intellectual discourse regarding this topic some have resorted to sarcasm and typical clutchfans rhetoric. One of the main reasons why clutchfans especially the (GARM) is going downhill fast. I knew that this thread might rub some the wrong way but i think it's an interesting question if you don't then why post in it ?

THIS...there are many posters here who just lurk. The difference with the others is while they lurk they also post. Doesn't mean they're on it 24/7.

If you ever post in game threads (any sport), that will drive your post counts up quickly. I don't really post in Rockets game threads anymore, but I do for the Texans. That's probably 20 easy posts in the span of a couple of hours. My post count would be significantly lower if I never posted in game threads.

My question is what do the people that have 20k+ posts do for a living? And would your boss care if you posted 15 times a day? I mean, between reading the site and posting the time spent definitely adds up. Not to call anyone out but how in the world does DD have 85K posts? That's just damn near unfathomable to me. I could post for the next 50 years and not have that high of a post count. Does he work for himself? If not, surely his boss would catch him on here posting a few times a day.

I think he owns his own company and maybe works from home? He likes to brag that he has other people to do all the work while he posts on cf. :)

Like someone else said, I just have CF open as one of many windows on my work desktop. Do some work, take a break and post, do some more work, and so on. Post more during the slow times of the year, less during the busy times.

I've been doing it this way for so long it almost feels like CF is a part of my job. My work doesn't suffer at all and my boss doesn't care about anything except my work.

And 99.99999% of my posts are Monday through Friday between 7 and 4. Don't really have time to surf or post from home. Especially lately.

You're assuming all these people, myself included, sit on their computers for 24 hrs looking at clutchfans.net and nothing else. It's not that difficult to get a lot of posts if you know how to scan through topics/threads/posts and can type fairly quickly. I can get in 10 posts in a day throughout the day or in 30 mins and not post again that day. Also, a lot of people spend the same amount of time here ,but don't post as much, so their post count isn't always a good way to gauge their time here, yourself included.

There's also ways to fit in posting or just being on the site without sacrificing other stuff in your life. A lot of people have internet access at work and work sometimes lags. Not like you can leave, so what's wrong with being on clutchfans? Others do it while in class. Heck, i do it while eating also. It's called multi-tasking. Some are better at it than others... Having internet access ony our phone makes it even easier and nowadays a computer is always nearby.

People kill time in different ways, if you think about it. Maybe you talk with your co-worker or friend or whoever, some people do it online. Also, people move at different speeds. If you move and do things more quickly, you'll have more free time.

It's quite easy to rack up more than 15k when you have been here for over 12 years. With a tenure that long, over 15k is only 3 posts per day.

If you don't like to post, fine don't post....but don't act like its a bad thing that people are posting on a message board...isn't that what boards are for?

And DD, I wouldn't get to mouthy about RRicky, he isn't a small guy, and I don't mean sideways.

The fact I run my own business absolutely, positively factors into my post count here.

Also, CF is kinda the whole internet for me. I find news here...discussion..sports stuff...even breaking news. Aside from functional spots on the web: bank, travel planning, legal research, etc...this is kinda my entire dose of the internetz since 1999.

Also, I talk too much.
