I'm off the plane...we landed safely in Indianapolis

The guy he was sitting next to was Mike Maccagnan, one of the Texans' scouts

They chatted the whole time about the NFL. I listened to some of it, then found myself having several pinot grigios while I chilled in my first class seat

Some of the highlights they discussed:

--The importance of chemistry in the locker room – Dunta brought it down; Fred Bennett also mentioned; Jets given as a negative example

--Talked about the idea of finding "mean" players

--McClain asked about the WR from Notre Dame – Maccagnan didn't have a strong opinion on him

--Talked about Kareem Jackson – didn't catch that entire conversation

--Talked highly of Kubes' ability to lead the team

--Other comments: McClain asked for only glasses of ice to drink....and he enthusiastically said "SURE!" when asked if he wanted the cold plate of cheese, fruit, chicken/noodles and crackers

Seems there are two options that a normal man would take. Either, care so little that you just mentally note "Oh, that's Texans beat writer John McLain" and go on with your life.

Weird, business class usually at your own pop-up screen from the center console... at least on Lufthansa and Continental. I'd think first class would at least be as good, if not better. Odd that the screen is attached to the seat like on some larger plane economy classes.

I like that he brags about being able to buy first class tickets, but he can't afford a phone with a camera on it that doesn't take a clear back-of-the-head shot of a locally reviled reporter. It looks like grainy footage from the Zapruder film. Maybe the subject matter makes a difference. Maybe if it were Trevor Cobb on his way to Indianapolis for the 2012 Regional Hosiery Salesman Convention, we'd have gotten something worthy of a Pulitzer, reminiscent of the returning sailor leaning back his girl and giving her a kiss in Times Square.
