Damn, I hate that show.I’ve been deep in the heart of Lousiana with other family, and NEVER ONCE have I met someone who acts like the people portrayed on that show. I’ve seen gator hunters and they damn sure don’t look like this A-hole.

I know reality shows carry a little bit of skepticism with them these days, and most, if not at all, are manipulated to at least a certain extent. But you gotta believe that shows like this, Deadliest Catch, Dirty Jobs, etc are fairly authentic. And especially in the case of Swamp People, that you don't actually know people like this or have seen them, doesn't mean they don't exist. Those people on that show don't really do it for the money, because it doesn't make the kind of money that say fisherman on Deadliest Catch make. It's a way of life for probably only a small fraction of the Louisiana community.

This is probably true, I just get a little p.o.'d because I know that History Channel(I think?) edits it a lot to make these people look extra dumb. Frustrating that it's probably the only show on T.V. based on people in Louisiana and of course it based on in-bread, illiterate, people.(not saying that they are indeed illerate or in-breads, but that's how they are portrayed on the show.)

I wonder if they'll produce a show about non-white people in the swamps or what not any time soon. All these outdoorsy folks reality show seem decidedly white (Deadliest Catch, logging shows, swam shows, redneck hand fishing, Sons of Guns, monster fish catching shows, survival shows).

Swamp people highlighted an African American guy and his two sons last season, they switch around a bit, and this year they had American Indians on there, but don't let that get in the way of your whining about blacksplotation, or lack thereof.

People who find Deadliest Catch monotonous/repetitious will have a field day with this show since it's pretty much "tree shaking, pull it up, shoot... tree shaking, pull it up, shoot...." That being said, i've got respect for these dudes. Somebody needs to find Lizbet and the 2 "wild men" brothers a dental plan. Lord.
