All NBA Current Draft 2011

Recently, there was an All NBA All time draft held in which a draft took place and clutchfans voted on which team they thought would win.

There was a lot of debate on era differences and the such.

In this boring lockout, I thought we could run the same type of draft but for current players.

I honestly thought it was a lot of fun and its always interesting to discuss how players would mesh together for good chemistry and good talent.

This has been done really well by a Celtics site, Celticsblog (http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?board=42.0) where a draft took place and then each team posted his or her team gameplan. The community then voted.

So taking suggestions and sign ups. Then I'll randomize Draft order and we can go from there.


So far this is what I'm thinking -

Basic Rules/Guidlines

1. The draft will be serpintine (1-10 for the first round then 10-1 in the second round, 1-10 third round and so on).

2. The draft will be 8 people. 5 starters and bench. Everyone is current 2011 level.

3. Their MIGHT be a coach draft at the end if people want.

4. Players are assumed to be relatively healthy but still under their age constraints (Jermaine O'Neal, T-Mac and Garnett have terrible knees, Kobe has his messed up pinky, Brandon Roy's knees etc.) But everyone will play.

5. You can assume some players have developed/regressed over the offseason, but obviously no large leaps/regressions. It has to be reasonably logical.


And anything else you guys think is relevant.

The only problem with 18 is that it makes the playoff/matchups harder to run. I don't really mind expanding it though.

Draft will probably just happen on a thread here. Sure, it's slower, but discussing the draft is usually a lotta fun.

It's tough to keep that many people online to draft, though.

Plus with 24, teams would be kind of watered down (in a good way).

There will be less super-teams and more, well real teams.

You know what would be cool is if someone had NBA 2k11 just make a custom season and do the draft after we draft and sim games to see who won. Maybe as an extra voting method so it wouldn't be so much bias. I noticed the team with lebron in the all time draft got hated on alot

I think generally clutchfans will have a couple of people who will hate on a couple of players but overall the majority should be able to be pretty unbiased.

I have 2k11 but we would need 30 teams and bigger rosters I think. Well, I could set all of the other players minutes down to 0 I guess.

If there is a problem with the matchups, then we could split up into 2 conferences and let clutchfans pick the teams that just missed the cut. For example, if we get 12 teams in each conference, the 4 teams from each conference that get the most votes to miss the playoffs are out. Then it would still come out to be 16 teams, 8 in each conference.
