I need a new chair, CF members. Wondering what you guys use at your desk. Need something comfortable. Innovation is welcome. Not too expensive, please.

P.S. do you guys think it's necessary to have armchairs?

Thanks

I have this. Not a fan of it at all.

http://www.amazon.com/Fabric-Deluxe-Posture-Chair-Black/dp/B0019QGVIO/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1307725910&sr=8-24

I use a lumbar support to make it work better for me.

I also stack my monitors on phonebooks to put them at eye-level, as well as my keyboard to keep it at elbow height.

I'd recommend something like this.

specifically designed to .....

It's a ball.

...plus, improves your reflexes...

Probably from people falling off it left and right.
It's not a bug, it's a feature!

Seriously... I hear your points, but hard to imagine working on that all day.

It's a ball.

Wrong. It's a fitness orb.

There was a study done during the dot.com era that showed that the majority of internet companies that bought those chairs went bankrupt versus a more reasonably priced chair.

I have a replica of that chair, but I hate it: because since I usually sit with my feet in the chair, the friction of the mesh is as bad as a carpet burn.

The mesh doesn't provide a whole lot of benefits in my opinion and the carpet burns are a huge downside.

I have a feeling they all went bankrupt for a numerous number of other reasons. Yes overspending can be a demise of these companies, but internet companies as a whole all crashed and burned.

I think you're supposed to be clothed when sitting in them.

Lol. This looks like those $600-$1000+ "ergonomic" chairs I see in IT departments every so often. Cracks me up.

To OP : Don't get a chair that uses microfiber... biggest mistake I made. Bah. I've only had my current one for 2 years and already need a new one because it's falling apart (cloth torn, foam popping through, etc.).

We use these. Sitting for long streches is actually pretty bad for you.

As a chair? Sure. I don't do it myself, but i dont see why it wouldnt. My guess is you'd have trouble initially unless you already have incredible coordination and core strength.
