Anyone else ever heard of this? There is a write-up in the Press about it being around as early as the 50's with marketing slogans, etc. Apparently you heat it on the stove and pour in a mug with a lemon slice at the bottom.
So have I been under a rock, or is this a lot less known about?
Here is the article:

I love it. They serve it at the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco. I used to get it with extra lemon.
Delicious.

I used to drink it all the time when I was younger.

My best friend's wife has mentioned something similar before, IIRC. I'm thinking maybe putting a lemon drop candy in the Dr. Pepper and then warming them together?

I would have assumed any of us older guys would have known about hot Dr. Pepper. I remember the TV ads as a kid.

I heard hot Dr. Pepper goes great with cold pizza.
Seriously, I'm with you on this one, Fatty. Have never heard of it.

I like Dr. Pepper on Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream, but I'm open to trying it this other way. Would it melt the ice cream?

Mmmkay.
I decided to try this tonight, so I brought it over to my folks. I even bought some JB bourbon if it needed that kick.
My entire family reaction? Meh. It wasn't necessarily unenjoyable, but was not worth the ten minutes on the stove.
I am a Texan, and I truly enjoy things that are Texan. But that one needs to be ol' Yeller'd down by the pasture.
If you like Dr. Pepper, don't ruin it this way.

I've never had warm/hot Dr. Pepper, but I've been putting lemon in my DP for many years. It rules.

Oh yeah dude totally. I drink it every time I'm about to perform. It really helps with the vocals.

Another vote here for "never heard of it."
It doesn't sound appealing, either. In fact, it sounds suspiciously like some Baptist thing that is meant to replace the awesome that is a Hot Toddy. That it is apparently popular in Waco adds credence to this theory.

Numerous times, yet I don't remember any references to hot Dr. Pepper.....
Tried it 10 minutes ago... not bad. Don't over cook it though, and use a big wheel of lemon.
God Bless Dr. Pepper
