On Monday night my uncle passed away. He was only 42. My uncle was like a father to me and raised me, along with my grandmother, as his own from the age of 2. He did not have any other kids nor a wife. It has really hurt losing my uncle. In the past 8 years, I've lost 1 other uncle ans 2 aunts whom I was also had very close relationships with. It sucks even more for my grandmother since she's now buried four kids, with only 2 left.
I don't really have words to express how I feel. I try my hardest to remain strong because my grandma now needs me more than ever. Now only her and I remain in the house and not it is up to me to become the man of the house and take over everything.
Today, I walked the stage and pending final grades, I've graduated with my BS in Civil Engineering. This is one of the proudest moments of my life and for my family in general. I'm the first to through college and finish. It was a tough day because my uncle was really looking forward to my graduation. He had told me last week when I was home for thanksgiving that he was so happy that I was coming back home.
At the time, I'm still feeling really sad but at the same time I'm so happy. I know he is in a better place, but I'm going to miss him a whole lot. He was my roommate for all my life and not having him is going to be very hard. He was my friend, he was my uncle, and he was my father. I'm still in shock of what happened, even though I knew his health was not the best.
I love life, but these moments are tough. :(
