How can any Comets fan like Leslie and Holdsclaw after their thuggish/immature actions last year?

What did Chamique Holdsclaw ever do that was "thuggish"?
I do agree that what Leslie did in the playoffs last year was uncalled for, but she is still a great player and I have to respect that. I just like her game! Tina didn't have to be talking trash at her, either.

i know i'll get some grief for putting Kim up there, but...some of my memories of her stealing the ball are still some of the best moments in watching WNBA basketball. she should have been on the All WNBA first team in '98.

All WNBA first team? Let's not stop there, she deserved defensive player of the year too! Even if T-Spoon led the league in steals, it was Perrot's defense that helped to get us that championship. The Liberty didn't even make the playoffs.
Sorry to get off topic there, just something that needs to be said.

Calvin, did you see the game vs. the Comets where she bounced the ball off Coop's face? Maybe not thuggish but definately immature and disrespectful.

Did Holdsclaw purposely bounce the ball off Cooper's face?
If so, we need to open a can of "Is Holdsclaw that good?" whoop-ass.

OH! This is fun!!!
My top 10 would look like this:
1. Sheryl Swoopes
2. Cynthia Cooper
3. Yolanda Griffith
4. Tina Thompson
5. Natalie Williams
6. Teresa Weatherspoon
7. Kedra Holland-Corn
8. Janeth Arcain
9. Jennifer Gillom
10. Suzie McConnell Serio/Kim Perrot
I'm sure of my top 6, but the last 4 slots are pretty much all even in my book (and can be re-arranged depending on how I feel at any particular moment - maybe I could just say they're all tied for 7th place). There are many more great players I had to leave off.
I HAD to put Kim on the list, but didn't want to kick anyone off.
What I loved most about Kim was not necessarily her talent (which we can all agree she had plenty), but the heart and fire with which she played the game. Some of the top NBA players of all time were not among the "elite" because of raw talent, but rather for their fire, their committment to the game. Charles Barkley comes to mind. And there are many players (both NBA and WNBA) that have loads of raw talent, but never make an impact. And it is because they lack this quality.
As far as I can see, Kim is the first (and so far the only one) to show that special "spark" in the WNBA. In fact, the biggest problem for the Comets last season and this one has been finding someone else to provide that something special for the team to rally around.
It's what leading a team is all about. There are many great players in the WNBA. But I would really like to see someone else inspire their team, their fans, and the LEAGUE like Kim did!!!

University, Holdsclaw denies it but it definately looks like it was on purpose, even the TV announcers thought so.
Coop was guarding her on the perimeter and Mique lost her dribble. So she bonked it off Coop's forehead to "regain" the dribble(since the opponent touched it she was free to dribble again). Coop just stood there shocked, jaw to the ground and looking at the ref while Holdclaw dribbled and shot a basket.

i hate new york no doubt about it, but with that said,... you can't deny Spoon's heart. and BTW,...she is from jasper, texas and played college ball at la. Tech in ruston, La. so that gives her a little cred. she can't help it if she plays with the most over-rated player in the WNBA,...Rebecca Lobo http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

I know she from Texas
I'm from la. . . .so I'm a HUGE LADY TECHSTER
Fan . .. but she just annoys me.
[maybe because she stole Kim's DPOY the
1st year. maybe she talks too much trash]
Strangely she has developed a shot this year.

I'll respect her game. . but . . she annoys me.
