I am just as big of a fan as the next person, but the last three years the Comets coach have been Pi$$ing me off with the his draft choices. We haven't had a drafted player play in the same year since Tina Thompson. This year he let a starting point guard slipp right through his hands. I'm sure that these players are really good in the country the play for, but it doesn't do us any good here in the United States. Last years pick might not even play this year. So god knows when this year pick will play. He might as well trade the pick for a player here in the United States. Last years starting center wasn't even all that good for us to have to wait an entire year for. I like his style, but he needs to take care of his picks. Coops and Swoopes won't be around for ever. With all the other teams getting young stars we haven't gotten anyone that is worth a hoot since Thompson and Arcain in our first year. What do you guys think???? Am I the only one who has been disappointed after the draft the last three years????

I don't like getting Euro players either. The language barrier and different styles make for unnecessary hurdles. Van passed on Taj McWilliams twice last year. With her on board the team could have breezed thru the playoffs instead of struggling. And in 98 we could have had Tangela Smith instead of Tzekova.

I was so pissed this year when Van passed on Helen Darling for another Euro. I was screaming at my TV while watching the draft because they interviewed Van right before his pick and he said either Chakirova or Garner (who he got anyway). I think we'll live to regret passing her up. She might be the next Ticha Penicheiro.

Anyway, Chakirova apparently is coming this year but last year's pick Natalia Zasulskaya still won't be here. Both are supposed to be tough power players as opposed to Tzekova who is more finesse. I hope she'll be able to contribute something to the team.
