Yeah I never really had an ipod or downloaded albums off the internet, and that's what i'm doing right now. what i need right now are suggestions from fellow cfans on music. i'm gonna give you guys a list of artists that i love and hopefully you guys give me other artists that are similar to my taste. here they are:
john mayer
tracy chapman
coldplay
jack johnson
jason mraz
the strokes
eric clapton
arcade fire
maroon 5
i like some rap. i like jay z's new album. loved his song entitled "young forever". i like any rap with a good tune. i don't like rap songs that talk about bling bling and living through the hard ghetto life (cause thats not what i am lol) i tried j.cole, thought it sucked. tried kid cudi, liked some of his songs.
basically i like blues songs, good rnb, some rock with good guitar solos (like bed of roses or some eric clapton songs), and some catchy rap.
thanks for the help clutchfans!

That is some playlist right there. All over the place.
Not big on Drake until he writes his own stuff without recycling Wayne's verses. He's still Degrassi...but now with NSFW words. Pass.

Are you a chick, lol? - these are artists (most of them) that seem to be favored by women more than guys although there is nothing wrong with that as I like some of these people.
Mayer - can't really help you on him although I would say Mraz and Jack Johnson but you already have them listed, lol. Of course, you would probably want to check out Dave Mathews Band since you like those 3 guys.
Tracy Chapman and Maroon 5 - no clue on what to tell you here although I will say that you may like what I call "adult alternative" pop which includes artists like James Blunt and James Morrison (who sounds A LOT like Ray LaMontagne).
The Strokes and Arcade Fire - try other "indie-inspired" acts like Interpol and Bloc Party
Eric Clapton - depends on what type of Clapton you are talking about here. Are we talking about the bluesy Clapton that could rip the sh!t up on the guitar or are we talking about "Tears in Heaven" Clapton? I favor the bluesy one and prefer his '60s groups over his solo stuff. Pick up everything you can of Cream as well as the lone albums of Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominoes, and the John Mayall one that has Clapton in it.
Coldplay - you can try Radiohead's "The Bends" as well as Keane's first 2 albums and maybe even Travis with their album, "The Man Who".

Also, since you're into Arcade Fire, check out The Airborne Toxic Event. Not exactly the same, but it's a damn good album.
This band isn't messing around. LA's The Airborne Toxic Event sounds like U2 meets Arcade Fire meets Neil Diamond (they get compared to The Cure too, but I don't really hear that as much. Definitely Diamond though).
The crew of five (including a violinist, so you know they're serious) is obviously intent on capturing a big, dramatic sound that will one day lead them to the hallowed halls of Zippo-lit arenas.
And they certainly succeed in creating something that leans heavily towards the theatrical. Their songs often start slow and quiet before building to some sort of vibrant, inspiring solution.
They don't want you to slowly rock back and forth at their shows; they want you to get goose bumps. The Airborne Toxic Event is a band that's definitely going to move some units before they're all said and done.
