Gortat suffered what initially appeared to be a minor injury in Friday's 70-56 win over O2 hosts Great Britain, but Katzurin has revealed it could be worse.

"He's going to hospital in Warsaw," said Katzurin, "so he's definitely out for Sunday's game.

"It's tough to make decisions until he has been seen by a doctor, but we suspect it's a bad injury

If it is major, then we got really lucky in H-town.

Hmm, assuming he came to Houston, he may never have been injured. Still, serves him right for refusing Morey's kind gesture and opportunity to ball for H-town. :p

I firmly believe the main reason the Magic matched his contract was so they would have trade bait in February if someone got hurt. Gortat is stuck behind Dwight Howard and wouldn't have been a key member of their rotation.

It might not be serious but good luck to him. At least He has a new contract to lean on.

The Magic should start praying that their big guy does not have a serious injury or else that plan you mentioned would be just a thought.

And that's why the Mavs made the right decision to not let Dirk play.

Should the Rockets do the same with Scola?

I don't think so

Scola is more crafty than a banger down low so I think he should be fine in international competition while Gortat is the opposite.

Injuries do happen and the way He plays ( all out ) then anything can happen. The fatigue factor should also be taken into account. He will be forced to do more this season and He might need all the rest He could get. He is not that young.

Honestly,Luis needs a break from international competition. He could get planter fasciitis if nothing else.

Pretty much, He was one of the hottest free agents. I did think Otis Smith was bluffing when he said he was willing to match any contract offers, turns out he really wasn't. Maybe he was, but then when the team got Brandon Bass for nothing they decided to completely screw over the Mavericks and keep Gortat as well. In my opinion, the Mavericks probably should have offered a sign and trade deal involving Bass for Gortat.

Oh well, Too bad. The State of Florida Screws Dallas again. ;)

I don't understand some people around here. It is a big chance for Marcin. Last season he showed in the NBA that he can play, can even be a starter.

But for him playing for Poland is probably like for Yao playing on CHina national team. Poland is a small marker and basketball isn't really all that popular. People have been following football for years and nobody really cares about basketball.

So when Marcin did what he did last season in the NBA, more and more people started following basketball too. He is an icon of basketball for this country and it is a great chance for him to show that he can even be a star.

Injuries happen. You can get injuried even while walking along the street. It's life. He is not really injury prone player (we don't know about that yet) so why shouldn't the Magic allow him to play? Remember that those championships will take place in Poland. It is a great chance for this countr and this yound man.

And let me tell you something, Poland has a damn pretty good chance of winning something. They probably have the best frontcourt with Gortat, Szewczyk and Lampe.
