New Jersey Nets center Jayson Williams has suffered a fracture at the base of the fifth metatarsal of his left foot, it was announced by Nets General Manager John Nash. The injury occurred during practice on Wednesday, March 15.

Williams' left foot has been placed in a short leg cast and will be non-weight bearing at the present time. Williams' foot will be re-evaluated by the Nets medical staff at a later date.

"Jayson landed on the foot of another player while attempting a jump shot," said Nash. "It is an unfortunate setback to a player that has trained rigorously to come back from his previous leg injuries."

Williams received medical clearance to participate in full-contact practices on March 8. He had been on the injured list since the outset of the 1999-2000 season, rehabilitating from injuries incurred to his right leg and knee on April 1, 1999, vs. the Atlanta Hawks.

He was set to be back this week. Everyone told him to not comeback this year but he did and this is what happens.

But he has a great life, he doesnt work or do anything and he gets paid 14.3 MILLION A YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't he sign a long-term deal with the Nets for 100m about a year or two ago?

Wow, that's a lotta loot for what looks like an injury-prone player.
