I've read about half of catcher in the rye, and (i don't know if this is good or bad) but i REALLY REALLY identify with him at various times in the story, like when he talks about how he feels about some dude who's a complete jackass. And how he feels when that dude goes out with a chick he really has the hots for.

That makes me laugh - in the movie "Conspiracy Theory" (Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts) they have US Government trained assassins who were programmed to kill but didn't realize it. The kicker is that they also program these killers to be helplessly addicted to Catcher in the Rye, so they can track them down when they buy the book.
Supposedly Lee Harvey Oswald and the guy who shot Reagan both had several copies of CIR. No Idea if this is actually fact, but someone told me it was....

I'm reading Frank Herbert's Dune at the moment. It's great.

I recently read "Void Moon" a crime fiction novel. Not a literary classic but it is a great read. I read it in less than a week - that's a whole lot of time on the toilet.

I read Myron Bolitar novels. They are about s sport agent and they are great. the author of them is Harlan Coben. I suggest anyone who likes sports or just good series of books to check out this series.

I've just finished reading Tom Clancy's Net Force: Night Moves. If anyone is interested in crime fighting AND computers, it's a great read. There is a whole series of them.

I finished Motley Crue: The Dirt not too long ago. Great book. I couldn't put it down.
With the Lord of the Rings movies about to come out, I started reading the Hobbit and LOTR. I made it through The Hobbit, then Allison hit and I haven't had much reading time since.

I just finished one of Bolitar's novels. It was called "Darkest Fear", and I really enjoyed it. What other books of Cobens would you suggest?

This is more related to John Lennon's assassin, Mark David Chapman. Just after shooting Lennon he pulled out his dog-eared copy of Catcher in the Rye and waited for the cops to show up. What a useless jerk! He not only killed one of the greatest men ever, he also tainted this great book.

One of the greatest musicians, perhaps. But one of the greatest MEN ever? Not by a longshot.
