I just wanted to make this because of how deke is just owning it up out there. Everyone can tell that deke is leaving it all out there on the floor, 14 rebounds already, and literally scaring anyone on the warriors from driving to the basket, including that punk randolph. Heres to deke! :p

Yeah Deke needs to get more playing time. I dont understand why Adelman does not let Deke play more. Look at the defensive change he brings. Its astonishing...

Watch out western conference, here comes Deke.

People in general and posters on here in particular have been saying he's over the hill for a while now, but Deke continues to prove them wrong season after season.

He's still one of the best shot blockers and rebounders in the league at the center position. The intimidation factor and the deadliness of the elbows can't be underestimated either. I'm sure none of the players from Golden State were in the league when Mutombo was in his prime, but they all watched basketball and they know who he is.

He can still bring it and he should play at least 15 mpg in the playoffs and more depending on the matchup. It would help reduce Yao's mpg too. I would not be oppossed to him playing for Houston again next season if he actually plays unless the Rockets actually bring in a legit, young, athletic backup with size at the center position.

Chandler, Dampier, Nene, K-Mart, Bynum, Gasol, Oden, and Pryzbilla better all watch out for Mt. Mutombo in the playoffs!

We aren't going to get him for another year, but I wish we could. He's done after this year.

Not many teams can afford to not play a guy who can come in and get 10pts 15rebs.

Also, with Deke playing i think we get to see just how good Scola is. He is really this good. If he wasn't on a team that had Yao as the focused he could definitely be an all star.

Its great to know he can still produce if hes called on in the playoffs. I saw enough tonight to believe he will still be effective in this role next year if he wants to come back.

hopefully he gets playing time in the playoffs. He's come up huge lately. I liked the intensity who showed tonight against Randolph.

If RA plays him during that stretch against Utah, SA, etc. about a month ago, this 'fight' for #2 wouldn't be a fight.

He shouldve been playing a long time ago. All the reasoning of him not being fast enough or not having the paint presence he once had is crap.

just saying...

Uncle Mutombo to the rescue. I really dont understand why RA doesnt give him more PT. He would be an asset in the playoffs. I would rather see Deke than Chuck unless we were facing a quick athletic center/pf. Atleast Deke can provide some offense too.

Been saying all along that we could've used him more throughout the season. Rick now decides to use him for more than 2 mins with only 2 games left in the season. He should definitely get some minutes in the playoffs but I don't see Rick using him unless Yao goes down.

I've always preached giving Mutumbo backup minutes. Right now our big man rotation is Yao, Scola, Landry. But it should be Yao/Deke and Scola/Landry. Deke should always come off the bench ahead of Hayes unless we're up against mobile PFs/Cs.

Free Deke and let the man own the paint!

The salary he earns is already worth by his cheerleading, giving passion to the team and being a mentor of team. And that's not all he can do. He still can block, rebound, and play 35 minutes.

Thank you Deke, you reestablished my respect for the forties which Roger Clemens the steroid had brought away.

"We need NBA Classics to show more of the Mutombo games so some of the youngest guys can learn," said Mutombo, 23 years Randolph's senior. "Everybody is trying me. I don't know why. That young boy tried so hard.

"Man, I wish he got at least one dunk to make his day. He tried so hard. He kept telling me, "I'm going to get you before the day's over." It's too bad. He tried, but he didn't get a chance to dunk on Dikembe Mutombo. He's not going to be able tell his grandkids I got Dikembe with one."

Them kids. They never learn.

Turiaf was matched up against Mutombo much of the night and was equally impressed. At one point in the fourth quarter, Turiaf began peppering Mutombo with questions.

"I was like, 'Man, you're pushing me and doing all those things to throw me off- balance and the ref is not seeing it. How do you do it?''' Turiaf said. "So during the game (we) were chatting about defense and it was pretty good. If he wants to play until he's 55, he's going to play until he's 55.''

"I have no complaints about the game,'' Warriors coach Don Nelson said. "We fought hard and stayed in the game ... but it wasn't to be. Mutombo came in and had an unbelievable performance and was a tremendous factor in the game.''

"It's really remarkable,'' Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. "He was really a factor around the rim. You just can't give him enough credit for the way he can step in and play like that. He's an amazing athlete.''

That was hilarious. :D

These young kids definitely should learn. They probably see Deke as some over the hill player who can barely move around, and thought it would be nice to get a dunk on the second all-time blocker. What they forget is you don't get 3000 blocks by athleticism alone. With his timing and instinct, Deke could still get some blocks without leaving the ground.

man deke is sweet. 35 minutes at his age, Wow! I hope Adelman held him back to keep him fresh for the playoffs. If he doesn't get 10-12+ mpg in the playoffs I will be surprised. He is a huge force inside to say the least.

Kinda sad that most of us who are in our 20's can't do what this man is doing in a NBA game at 43.

I'm 100% with you on this. I have been saying the same thing for two years also. RA should substitute by position instead of just by player. Substituting Deke for Yao and Landry for Scola keeps everyone in their natural positions where they can be more effective.

Of course there will be times when matchups require adjustments, but this should be the standard sub pattern.

Deke has heart. No matter the situation he has the mentality of a winner. He takes a challenge and steps up too it. He Believes he is the best. He may not have the ring but he has the soul of a champion. HALL OF FAMER period.

Chamillionaire
04-11-2009, 04:15 AM
hall of famer because he was a dominant defensive force, not much else there. he's been a leader for us, which i think is great. he is the leader of this team, everyone, including ronron looks up to him.

Deke: 7 time DOP, 2nd all time shot blocker.
Randolph: A kid just started learning how to NBA basketball

What was he thinking being so disrespectful. Fire and passion is one thing, but going over the line being a moron is another. I hope some of older Warriors tell him that.

I was down on the Rockets for sticking with Deke, & I admit my mistake. He has his limitations, but as long as others can pick up the scoring slack, we definitely improve on the defensive end when he's in there.

If this Yao thing is (as stated) just to rest him, I hope Deke sees court time & Adelman uses him correctly in the playoffs, for he CAN contribute mightily.

IF there's more to this Yao thing than meets the eye ... our stay in the playoffs will again ... be short.

thats what he said last year... and the year b4 that...so yeah. Maybe he is but we hope hes not. We know that he loves this team so much he might just sign a MLE contract and refuse all other offers from other teams to stay with the rockets. Not that im saying he deserves MLE but the support he brings to the team is worth McBaby's contract

Dear fans,

I want to thank each one of you for the wonderful support that you have showed me. Today, it was a first time I started the game with my Mutombo55 Peak Shoe. It was great. We won the game against Golden State and I had one of my best game of the season. 15 rebounds, 5 blocks and 10 points. It shows the world that it is your age but your talen that led you dispite its. We are moving on as we see ourselve to finish at the 2 spot for the west conference. Please do not turn away from us because we are going to make a lot noise this year. I am ready to show the people that Mutombo Peak is strong forever. See you next week. 35 munite today was not easy for a 42 old man.
