4/11/09 Game Thread
Golden State @ Utah -- I think Utah will take this one since they are at home and have been slumping lately, they are due for a win. They don't want to fall to the 8th seed, but we want them to. Go Warriors!
Portland @ Los Angeles (Clippers) -- I think Portland will most likely take this, but I'm hoping for an upset so they can move further away from us. It really doesn't matter though unless the Lakers lose to them. Go Clippers!

I pray Warriors can pull out a win. If they hit 3's like they did in the last 2 minutes today Jazz can't do anything. I'm crazy enough.

This is the equivalent of a playoff game for the Jazz. They will clobber the sorry Warriors.
If such a thing is possible with the Clippers, tomorrow's contest could be a "trap" game for the Blazers if they can't get the Lakers win out of their system. Even if they end up winning, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Blazers fall way behind in the 1st half.

yeah the warriors will be suiting up only 8 players and the game is at Utah. There is about a 2% chance the jazz lose.

Nothing to see here. Move along.
The Jazz will demolish a short-handed Warriors team. Utah gets a ton of calls at home, and it's not like the Warriors have many to give up. I guess we'll see what happens if the 3 players foul out. This (http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4393517&postcount=13) is what the rule book says.
The Blazers will not let up. This is a hot team and they will annihilate the Clippers. They are too close to home court to blow it on the Clippers, especially after their last 2 clutch victories.

I could see the Blazers getting lackadaisical. This is road game, back-to-back, after two big wins against Spurs and Lakers. This is still a young team. They could definitely overlook this game.
Yes I do realize the clippers are horrible and shorthanded, but they gave the Lakers a game for 3.5 quarters, before the Lakers woke up

Easy win for the Jazz. The warriors only have 7 players.
The Clippers have a chance to beat the Blazers. Z-Bo is back from suspension and he may want to kick the Blazers behind.

btw, Z-Bo scored 38 pts in his 1st game vs Blazers as a Clipper. And he didn't play in the 2 loses vs Blazers. Let's see if there is Z-Bo magic tonite.

What I meant to say there was that I wanted the Jazz to stay the 8th seed. They aren't the 8th seed for sure yet, right now wherever anyone in 6,7, or 8 is doesn't really matter. It's going to shift around a bit with a few games remaining and all the tie-breaker stuff and etc.

GState up by 13 at the half. The only reasons the Jazz are in it is because of the refs. The Rockets need to go after Randolph. He's young, he's got size, he can handle the ball, he's got range and can take other bigs off the dribble, and he can board. Sure he got schooled by Mutombo last night, but he reminds me of a poor man's Chris Bosh. He could either be Yao's backup for the future or play along side him as well.

I believe there is some weird rule where you can bring back a player that has already fouled out when you only have 4 players left who are under the foul limit but the other team shoots a tech every time a foul is committed after that. I'm not sure at all of this but I think I read something to this effect in another thread several months ago.

Yeah that was ridiculous! I mean he literally pushed Turiaf with nobody else around and the ref was right there! Wow! The Jazz get so many calls and get away with so much at home that it's an absolute travesty. The only other teams that get anywhere close to this kind of home cooking are the Lakers and Cavs.
BrooksBall
04-11-2009, 09:29 PM
If a Warrior breathes on a Jazz >>> foul.
If a Jazz punches a Warrior in the head >>> no foul.
Sadly, that really isn't much of a stretch.

I just cant understand it as anything other than cheating... there is no way all 3 refs missed it, he shoved him with two hands while in the end, not only was it a foul it was a dirty dangerous one if it threw him off balance.

04-11-2009, 09:29 PM
Don't forget the importance of that last game. Utah @ Lakers... the Lakers obviously are locked into their position and if Cleveland have secured HC for the playoffs by then they really have nothing to play for....except that if I am the Lakers I would rather not have to go to SLC even with the Jazz sucking and would prefer to play the Mavs, so I wouldn't be surprised if you see the Lakers send out a depleted side and hope the Rockets knock off the Mavs. Thinking a bit ahead I know but a likely event.
Yeah I don't see the Lakers playing their starters that game with the Cavs probably already locking up the best record.

LOL. Man f the Jazz, I wish no long-term health problems on any of them, but Williams being gone for the playoffs would be awesome. I hate the Jazz and their cheating.
Fing you cannot tell me that a team that is 1-16 vs. +0.500 west teams and like 2-30 vs. all +0.500 on the road can all of sudden .800++ vs. them at home without some cheating. It is straight BS.

On a side note, these Clippers announcers sound a bit harsh
*Clippers take the lead*
"And the Clippers lead for the first time in...forever!"
*Kaman misses a point blank shot*
"He misses more three footers than anyone I have ever seen."
While the second one may be true, who says that?

Their team sucks. It's understandable.
Plus, listen to our own announcers. How many times have they criticized Yao for not finishing strong around the basket or Scola not playing defense or Artest not passing the ball or...
"Jason Thompson is working Scola over."
"How does a 7'6 guy shoot a layup there!"
"Artest trying to go 1-on-5 again."
"Scola has only used his left hand twice all season."

He also guaranteed that the Jazz would sweep the Rockets last year. Ooops. The Jazz could be facing the defending Western Conference champions in the 1st round, without homecourt advantage. A team that blasted them last year. Any predictions Booz?
