A league source tells the Washington Post that the Texans have emerged as a potential suitor for free agent CB Shawn Springs.
At 34 Springs will only be a stopgap solution wherever he lands, but teams realize he can still cover. The Pats, Saints, and Eagles maintain interest.

He is old, but might not be bad for the right price.

Interesting thought.
I don't know anything about him beyond the field, but what kind of reputation does he have as a leader/teacher/motivator?

A bandaid, but I'll take it.

Definitely would be a situation where he helps us for 1-2 years, but I think it would be a good solution for the time being until we can get something more long term in place.
Im down.

We need all the talent we can get, but I cant see him coming to a non-contender.

In that case, we should be on his list.

No thanks. Am I the only one who is fine with Robinson, Reeves, Bennett and Molden at CB? Reeves gets a lot of flack on these boards, but he looked good down the stretch once Dunta got back. If he can get a little better at making a play on the ball, he's going to be really good, it seemed like every time he gave a big play last season, he had perfect coverage, but just couldn't make a play on the ball. Not to mention, our secondary will look a lot better if we can actually get some pressure on the QB.

You're right, his coverage during most of the big plays against him was good BUT almost every time his eyes were on the receiver and not the ball. That's not a habit that just goes away and it is extremely conducive to giving up big plays.

I like those 4, and I like adding Springs to that group. He also played some safety last year... it'd be nice to add some depth in that area

It is, but I remember during the Monday Nighter, the point was brought up about his coverage. They gave the number of times the opposing QB threw his way and the number it was defended. It really wasn't as bad as what should be expected from the heat he gets. I think it was close to 50%. I'm not sure about that though.
Not playing the ball is a big deal and has hurt us. Thats the same reason he wasn't liked in dallass either.
With that said, I'm looking forward to good things from Molden. FB may be ok as well. At least we have some prospects with a chance of success.

I heard the Chargers may trade Antonio Cromartie, I think the Texans should be all over that.

If it was remotely true, I would absolutely love to have him. He is a playmaker. With Dunta on one side, they'll have to throw the ball somewhere. When Cromartie does catch it, it's almost a guaranteed td.

if the freaking Cardinals can get to a Super Bowl, this Texans bunch can...and may soon.

Whoever said it'd be a band-aid hit the nail on the head. It might be what we need for Bennet and Moulden to develop though...
