im pretty sure wont admit to the fact that we probably wont be doing anything as long as we're stuck with mcgrady's 23M on the books. we're not gonna win. might as well develop aaron brooks.

I'll prophesize the BS:
"We saw an opportunity to get younger and take a look at an up and coming player whom we think is special and has a future in this league"
"We wanted to increase our cap flexibility with the recent news that the cap and tax numbers will shrink next season"
"We think the world of Rafer and thank him for all he's done here. The decision to move him was difficult and we wish him all the best in Orlando."
What the hell ever. Lowry had damn well better be an out and out stopper at PG.

so that pretty much means nothing else has been submitted to leauge offices.
meh, I expect about 4-5 minutes of Rafer trade discussion and 25-30 minutes of McPastry yapping.

One of the guys on 610 argued that with McGrady out, they need more scoring out of the PG position, hence Brooks and Lowry over Alston.

Lowry isn't a scoring Point guard, he's like Rajon Rondo and Jason Kidd. Great finishers with no jump shots. Great strong defenders as well.
They got this trade due to clear some cap space and to get rid of the aging Rafer Alston. Rafer probably will fit in well with the Orlando Magic since they actually run and gun often. As some people have said on this board, This trade could have been to clear cap space to renew Artest's contract. We don't know how much money he wants or if he even wants to stay. Right now, it's better safe than sorry.
How come no one discuss about Brian Cook? e have 2 good PFs already so where does he fits in?

Aaron is a SG. I start to believe he doesn't know how to pass.
I don't know Lowry much, but seems to be the same deal as AB.
I just don't see how we are better.

According to the numbers I've seen, we aren't saving a penny. It would actually add a couple hundred thousand next season if Cook picks up his player option.
And I imagine both Brooks and Lowry are better scorers than Alston, no matter how they get it done.

Rajon Rondo is a good comparison of Kyle Lowry. Undersized, but good rebounders and defenders.

I'm pretty sure the Rockets will probably cut Brian Cook. He can shoot 3's and that's about it, he's an absolute scrub at everything else including defense. He doesn't compliment to this team, he's just a 6'10 version of Luther Head.

i doubt it usually the official website is the last to have any details on any deals since they have to wait till everything is completely official to say anything.
like when the artest trade happened they had to wait until the 30 day deal for donte greene was waived for them to officially put it on their website though every knew for weeks

- talks about Cook as the spacing 4, confirmed has had challenges, Rudy T thought alot of him when with the Lakers
-was looking for a top player, will look in the summer
-Tmac will go to Chicago on Friday, hear all the options, then both him and team will decide

Recap
Darryl Morey
PG - Feel like we upgraded the position.
Town will love Kyle Lowry. Villanova coach "Smartest PG I've ever had". We've had our eyes on him for a couple years. Good defender. Can attack the hoop. Can get to the line. Kicks it out to shooters. Knows his role. Knows to get the ball to Yao. Can help us now and build around for the future.
Coach is going to make the decision on who plays and how much. Confident in Coach Adelman to keep us on winning path. We love both Aaron's future & Kyle's future. Aaron has played the best at that spot with the starters this year. Gives us great depth at that spot. Who starts is up to Adelman. Not going to tell him who to start.
We feel Kyle is an upgrade as a player. We have a better mix to help us win. They are young, basketball is about having the better player. If having a young PG keeps you from winning, then Boston would not have won it all last year.
Focused on getting better players. Aaron has some challenges with his build. Don't see issues with Kyle, size wise. Brooks is improving. Kyle is a good defender now.
We feel like we've upgraded the team. Have better players now then before the trade. Kyle will help us now and the future.
Cook: Favority of Rudy T. Looking for a spacing 4. Had some injuries. Not sure about other issues. Difficult for him to get minutes because of depth. Another chess piece, and can spread out a team at the 5 spot.
In terms of leadership, its overrated. With guys like Battier, Luis, Barry, and Yao, we have great veteran leaders. If the player is an upgrade, don't mind getting younger.
Priorities: Wanted to add a top player. Obviously, kyle isn't a big name. Both Aaron & Kyle can develop into a top player. team is built around Yao. We need another top player.
When Tracy is healthy, we'll have that back. Something we'll acquire in the summer. (So expect a big move). Likely to perform surgery in Chicago with whatever surgery he gets. Until Tracy & Rockets hear all options, then a decision will be made. Scheduled to meet with a doctor tomorrow. He thinks he should hear from other doctor who performs the procedure. He performs the best alternate approach. Morey wants him to hear all options.
Lowry will not get to be #1. Same dollars for Cook both years, thinks he'll pick up his option. Cook was just a throw in by the sound of it to make the money work. Orlando is a good match with us for trades.

This trade only frees up $200,000 for this year, and should cost us an extra $300,000 next year. So it cost $100,000 to trade Alston for players who if you add them together dont make up Rafer's production.
This on the surface is a HORRID move by Morey, who has been dubbed the Wizard on this board.
BUt for now, I give this deal a major D-

the money is basically the same as Rafer's contract. I'll give this deal an incomplete until I see how Lowry plays.
You never know, maybe this trade will speed up Brooks' development with all the minutes he'll be getting (plus the fact that he'll be playing with starters).

I think the Rockets are gonna make a big move this summer due to maybe not being HUGE players in the 2010 FA class like the Knicks, Bulls and Pistons for example.
Who that player will be is beyond my knowledge.
The next few days...you guys are gonna see some big names get mentioned on deals that couldn't happen.

What you can't read...I basically admitted no one had played a minute yet, and I said, for now, Im giving this grade, that implies it can change.
And another thing I dont give a flip how "high" they are on a guy, everyone was high on Cato too.
