"I'm trying to figure out what the focus is," he said. "I thought I was always the future of the franchise, and we were trying to win a championship here. It doesn't seem that way anymore. I don't know what to expect from the front office. From a currency standpoint, they're trying to cut back on money. They want players with expiring contracts and draft picks. That lets you know that they're not trying for a blockbuster trade.

"It's more of a low blow. I've worked hard for the organization. I've been great in the community. I did everything that was asked of me. I never got in trouble. You never heard me in no DUIs or no trouble at all since I've been in the league. Everything I did is 100 percent professional and charismatic. I made sure my character stayed as such. So for me to hear these trade rumors and that they want to trade me for pretty much nothing, I don't get it."

Is this a legitimate beef? An inflated ego run amok? Or a little of both?

Well, the Suns are trying to cut salaries.

I am not sure if they want to trade Amare "for pretty much nothing."

100% professional and CHARISMATIC? Boy, is Amare 100% humble or what?

I don't see what there isn't to get. They want to cut costs.

This reminds me of Big Papi's rant expressing confusion as to why the Red Sox were shopping Manny, just hours after Manny requested/demanded a trade, a few years back.

I think he's trying to make sure they trade him. Amare doesn't want to be there and he's making it tougher for the Suns to keep him. He knows what's going on with the franchise.

Seems like he knows whats going on, but doesnt have to act like he's understanding of it. Him saying not gettin a blockbuster trade means its obvious they're not trying to improve the team through trade anymore and add around HIM. Amare saying trading him for pretty nothing is ego talking, but is he really gonna say, "Okay I'll play defense and not worry about scoring". Athletes maybe SHOULD do that, but I rarely see them do that.

But he's an expiring contract. If we could somehow get him for Artest and filler we'll have 3 max expiring contracts on 2010. We'd then be set until its time for Yao Ming to retire :D

Amare: "I did everything that was asked of me!"

Reporter: "Except play defense"

Amare: "DEFENSE! Come on now! You're talkin' DEFENSE! Look. When we have the ball; nobody plays with more heart, energy, hops or points! But now you're talkin' DEFENSE! Come on now!"
