Once Batman returns, team are going to be in trouble down the stretch trying to score on this lineup

Tmac - Checking the weakest 1, 2 or 3
Battier - Checking the strongest 1, 2, or 3
Ron Ron - Checking the 2nd strongest 1, 2, or 3
Chuck - Checking the 4 or 5 - D is awesome, can't score to save his families life
Yao - Checking weakest 4 or 5 once he gets his confidence back

I could even put Brooks in for Yao or Chuck depending on the match up.

That is, unless someone else gets injured. Which is likely...

The league should be in trouble with our current lineup, but obviously there is work to do. But the Rockets need to finish the season at 1,2 or 3. Otherwise, it could be out in the first round once again. People might say it is early in the season, but the Rockets need to pile up wins early in the season. Odds are there will not be a 22 game winning streak.

Yeah when battier returns he would be guarding the top guy on the other team instead of artest because to me it looks like artest is getting worn out having to run all over the place guarding these guards.

When we can switch out for offense, simply replace Chuck with Scola and perhaps Battier for Brooks or Barry depending on who the defense has out there.

someone remind me when shane comes back.
what is the estimated return?

we certainly miss his defense, and tmac and yao miss the spacing he brings.
he is going to be lethal with artest on the court. double the three point shooting, and twice the defense. wow. come back soon battier. come back soon.

I think Battier will return in late November. Morey projected mid-November, but I think that's him being hopeful.

The league is in trouble when Deke returns. :D

i agree when deke comes back the league will be in deeper trouble.

Atleast financially.

His hitting everyone up for money will turn cheap players the other way, plus you know he goes after guys that don't donate the hardest.

With his elbows I would be making hospitals as well.

D is good, how about O? We can only score 90-100pts a game.
Utah, LAL are good at O and D, and both are loaded with talents. They can score 100+ easily.

If we can lock them to 90pts, we have chance to win. Can we?

Can Batman rebound or run the point?

We don't need another point DaDakota, don't you know all we need is Yao to dunk all the time. If he doesn't than he is a lazy injury liability that has to do better than double double and make and take last second shots.

I wish we would trade him just to hear everybody go "we need a better center!"

How many NBA games has he played since Feb.?

I like him as a compliment and not the ultimate dominator.
Even jordan had games when he wasn't on, but his team would suffer because the lack of offense on a MJ off night. I don't want the rockets to be like that.

Yao could digress and if the TEAM played more cohesively and won (22 game streak) I would be happy.

Did Adelman ever use Battier on Deron Williams? Seems like Battier hasn't really guarded many PG's the last few years, even the big ones that he should be covering, like DWilliams.

Wait Obama won so Batman doesn't have any to go anywhere. ;)

Oh.. Battier.. It will be great to see him back on out the court.

i predict Battier will become another Steve Francise: will never recover 100% and lost a step on defense.

battier is one of few pple in the nba to have any success in containing kobe. now that we have ron, i find it hard to believe that kobe can have a good game vs us.

then next season when we get posey, bruce bowen, gerald wallace, and lindsey hunter, i dunno how anyone can score on us.

The team could very well be 6-0 had Battier be available. Ray Allen would not have had so many open looks and I guarantee you Shane would not have let Roy get open.

I always liked Battier but I really didn't appreciate him enough until now. His poor rebounding numbers I could attribute to him being out on the perimeter playing defense. I still thought he should rebound better however until I realized he alone is the Rockets transition defense.

The Rockets also look lost on defense at times. Roy getting wide open was the best example of that. Battier talks a lot on defense and keeps everyone aware of things they may not see without him. He brings a lot to this team and his return is going to make this team by far the best in the league IMO.

I think you need to revisit Battier's games against Kobe, he has one good game last year during the streak but Kobe torches him regularly as he does the rest of the league.

Our Basketball IQ just went up a 1,000 point on Shane's return. As I've said, if we can get Rafer and Artest to lower the FG attempted number we will be okay.

WELCOME BACK BATMAN, MUCH MAN LOVE!!!

Thankyou. In keeping with the spirit of this thread, I do agree we will greatly improve with Shane back, but it's hilarious how this myth of Shane as some Kobe-stopper has been propagated by delusional Rockets fans on the basis of one game. Look at the numbers. Kobe regularly lights Battier up, including a 50 pt performance or two.

Please look at ALL of the numbers. Field Goal %. Both Chuck and Battier make their opponents work harder for their points. In the case for Kobe, the Rockets want him taking all those shots, he's inefficient and it hurts his team. The Lakers are better when the ball isn't just in one person's hand.

He's been pretty terrific defensively in his first two games back.

that play wednesday when he took the charge after turning his ankle was great. signature type of play for battier.
